Ok, I promise to stop asking questions someday... but just getting the new baby all setup! And I did search this with limited results.
I am planning to purchase Borla Stingers (S-type) and wonder if I should do the X-Pipe too. Is it more of a HP gain or just a different exhaust note? I've read that the burble is louder with the stock H pipe, then another thread says just the opposite. I like burble... must have burble.
If you plan on getting headers in the future do not get the Borla X-pipe, as the post said above, you will have to get the X-pipe by the header manufacturer.
Borla does claim however a decrease in drone with their X-pipe (from my discussions with them). However drone will be there regardless.

Why pay twice for the same thing. I kept my "H" pipe and loved the sound. The "X" pipe will get you 3 RHWP at most.
I have the X pipe with the Stingers.
I can't imagine more burble using the stock H pipe.
After my initial install I could have sworn a large big block outboard was on my tail!
The "Burbles" are one of the best features of this exhaust IMHO. They sound pretty mean on decel coming toward an intersection or full stop. I often drive trying to get em sounding out as they sound really good.
I agree with everyone above on the burble It's definitely cool to hear and sounds more like a racecar. Very attention getting, letting everyone know that it's a vette coming down the road.

Hell yeah...X-pipe here, and a nice burble on slow downs.. Full exhaust here with route 66 cat back, love the sound now too loud, but floor it at it sounds like an F1-Racer..

I have a used Borla X-Pipe w/3000 miles on it.
Make me an offer - I'm sick of tripping over it in the garage. Already boxed and ready to go. Shipping isn't cheap because of the oversized box handling fee (UPS, FEDEX and DHL all charge the same fee). PM me and LETS MAKE A DEAL.

I believe that drone is a resonance (think big organ pipe) that is a function of total volume, length of path, and items that break up the path. The X-pipe will not change these variables much compared to the H-pipe.
To reduce drone, a more substantial change is needed, like the resonators in the Corsa Sport-to-Touring package, or the PRT center section from B&B.
Or going back to the much larger volume and longer path length stock C6 mufflers .
