if you are using the paddles and are in a particular gear, lets say locked in 4th, at 4500 rpm, with the pedal to the floor, and you pull the paddle and go to 3rd.
1. does the motor/engine rev, MATCHED DOWNSHIFT? (its already floored),therefore the downshift is relatively smooth, or does it bang hard into 3rd.
2. what if you get crazy and double click into 2nd, (assuming you will redline) does the tranny only let you go to 3rd.
BASICALLY, I AM ASKING IF THE PADDLE SHIFTER, IS IMMUNE TO PILOT ERROR..
based on limitted experience and the User's Manual, the computer will not let you change to too low of a gear. It beeps and shows an [X] on the HUD for the gear.

Yes, the A6 will not let you do something foolish like being in 4th at 4,500 RPM (122 MPH) and shifting into 3rd at 6,000 RPM. Especially if you're trying to accelerate. Going into 2nd (at 9,250 RPM) WILL NOT happen. Now the M6, on the other hand ...
To better answer your question -- I'm not sure what the maximum RPM is that will be allowed when downshifting but I think it's in the 5,500-6,000 range based on autox experience going from 3rd to 2nd or 2nd to 1st.
