EZ install, C5 clutch assist spring in C6.
My C5 clutch assist spring, GM part no. 12555205, arrived from Gene Culley. It was very easy to install on the C6. The picture shows the OEM C6 spring in place on the clutch pedal lever.
A flat bladed screwdriver pops the outer ends out of the two fixed bushings with just a bit of a prying motion. Then you can just lift the spring middle out of the plastic slot on the pedal lever.
The new C5 spring is flexible enough that you can squeeze the two outer ends toward each other. Put one outer end in one of the fixed bushings, then squeeze the spring by hand and pop the other end in the other bushing.
Now to get the middle of the spring in the slot. Push the clutch pedal all the way down with one hand (don't worry, the average 12-year-old girl is strong enough to push the pedal down with one hand.)
With your other hand, wrap your index finger around behind one spring coil and your middle finger around the other spring coil, with your palm facing up, and just pull the spring toward you until the middle of the spring slides into position and drops into the slot. Nuthin' to it .
Then go for a test ride and enjoy the new-found control you have over your clutch. Gene has the springs in stock for $4.99. Shipping is more than the spring, so you may want to bundle this with another purchase, like I did, or shop at your local Chevy dealership.

You are welcome.
So . . . . is this informative enough to go in the FAQ's, or what ? ? ?

C5 spring
Have you tried power shifting at red line, how was the clutch action then compared to the original. If you haven't then maybe you should be aware that the pedal will tend to stick to the floor. The reason is the smaller C5 spring has no effect on the pedal when it's on the floor the C6 maintains tension on it when it is on the floor. Feel it by hand you will see the center of the spring will be a little loose when clutch is on floor but not with the C6 spring.

If you have a clutch that is sticking on the floor when power shifting, it won't matter what spring (or no spring) is in the linkage.
The C6 spring change by GM was not a good move. Should have left the C5 spring in the cars. And yes, I am an engineer. The axle nuts should have been tighter as well.

A lot of C5 guys advocate removing the spring entirely. Any experience with that on the C6?

Changed out my C6 clutch spring for the C5 spring about 3 weeks ago. The clutch operation is much more predictable and has made my C6 much more driveable!
This is a change I recommend everyone to do!

I can't do it!!
I purchased the spring and I have been fighting it for 3 days and I am no closer to getting it on then the first ten minutes. My car is in the under ground parking area and a tow truck van't get down there.I admit defeat.I can't even put the old spring back on.I ju7st am at my wits end.I am ready to run it off the cliff behind my house but I can't get it out of the garage.I followed all the instructions I could find, but it won't go.Damn,I am digusted.I can't drive it to the agency,as the pedal won't go down any more.Any suggestions befre I run it off a cliff.

I didn't know.
I didn't think you could drive the car with out the spring.I thought if I drove the car without the spring the clutch pedal would go to the floor. Thanks for the tip.I will drive it to the agency tommorrow.Rod

I plan on trying the C5 spring.. The C6 spring does remove some feel and has a non-linear action which is why many don't like it.
