Yes-it sounds better, goes a lot faster, yet still very tractable even with the runflats on the street. I see you may have noted I got little to no logged gain going from my propped shroud to my closed system CAI. Lots to be said for that free air mod. Though the closed CAI does help keep the IAT's down underhood in warm weather. I'll do whatever it takes for the 11.99, but that's when I retire...I hope! .

But the fact that NOBODY in a year has run in the 11s bone stock, leads me to believe that his tuning somehow wasn't returned completely to stock, and perhaps that 11 second run was made without torque management present on his car, or something like that which would cause his car to run so much quicker than the others. Or, that he's simply lying to us, which would really suck!

I still think an LS3 can run 11s bone stock, but I think it'll be closer to an 11.95 at 117mph, and it would take absolutely everything being perfect (perfect traction, perfect weather, perfect driver who weighs only about 150lbs, etc.) So in other words, it's just not going to happen very often.
Well Andrew is pretty small/lightweight and he does appear to be a good driver. He was also at the top of the stock GTO lists (also amid some controversy) as well so he must have some seriously special skills or something.
I was there when the car ran the 11.71 and I can vouch for the stock 'appearance' of the car and the air was good (though not the best I'd ever raced in) but I cannot say for sure about anything going on in the PCM or anywhere else deep inside the car.

Numbers 2 through 6 are all within .12 and are all LS3's.
BTW, Dennis just ran quicker by .01 which backs up his earlier time, which makes it kinda hard to dispute it as a fluke.
Modified cars are ENTIRELY different, Dennis might've gone to lengths (yet while still falling under the textbook definition of 'bolt ons car') that no other owner was willing to go, plus his tuner shop is widely recognized as among the best in the nation. His gap can be totally justified based on how many passes the car has made and just how much attention to detail has been thrust into that car.
But stock is stock...all stock cars are virtually identical and should perform similarly but we all know that how one drives a manual car can make a big difference in track performance and perhaps Andrew, though quite young, is just that good?

True, he now has headers, Z06 cat back, aftermarket tires (non drag radial) and more tuning time into the car. I think he just recently beat his best stock ET with that set up.

To: 12.08 @ 115.48 - Siffert - 07 A6 - CAI, CB, Hdrs, Tune, DRs

My last ET time was last year around this time with a near stock car and a 12.54 with great help here from member Glennhl. Over the winter, in a quest to break 12 seconds, I added Kooks 1 3/4 headers with High Flo Cats, an Xcelerator CAI, BFG Drag Radials 275/40/17 on C5 Z06 17 x 9.5 Front Wheels, and purchased a HP Tuner. Offering lots of help, patience and time, member 8850 took on e-mail tuning for me while I did the street/highway test runs and VCM logging.

I got a late start in the Spring and by the time I got to the track, the weather got warmer and the best I could do was a 12.23 with a 1.88 60' while still tweaking my new speed goodies. I later found out from C5Pilot (thanks for the tip!) that with the A6 one should burnout in S or D mode rather than with the paddle for much less bogging in 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts. He was correct.

This October, in cooler weather, I was able to do the 12.08 as shown above on the track slip. 8850 then made some beneficial changes to my tune that I was going to track in similar or better air/weather in November. Unfortunately the track decided to close for the season last week, so I will have to "wait till next year" to break the 12 second barrier. It will require good air and a good 60'...otherwise, with the same mods, only getting a 2010 LS3 guarantees that!

I want to thank Glennhl for his help with DR's and wheels etc. Joe G for his tire changing help. "Fast" Dennis50NJ was _very_ helpful with tire sensors, burnout and launch. 8850 for all his help and especially his "sugarland express" tuning that made my car really wake up!!
You are going to make me come out for some of that good weather! Great run!!! There is an 11 second run in your car and you will find it.

WOW Jetstream, that thing wants 11s so bad it can taste it. Good job
That 60ft was a 1.97, that car has 11.80s all over it if you can get it out of the hole. I cut a 1.76 60ft on my stock runflats in my auto car with a well prepped track.

I guess the point I was trying to make was that just because someone ran a really great time it appears to SOME people that it couldn't possibly be legitimate.
Dennis had several runs that were close to his best and just recently one that was even better. He and the car are one. Eventually, as currently evidenced, others will close the gap.
I see others closing in on Andrew and believe if they are talented and can get enough seat time while remaining stock, the record will fall. I was once #5 on that list and now #13. I'm sure another .2 would have been possible even under the same track conditions, but I secumbed to the mod fever rather early.
All stock cars may have identical components, but I can attest to them not performing identically. I'm not saying 5/10ths difference though. We also know how much difference a driver/track/DA can make.

Frank "Evilways" warming up for another 11 second pass

Please see page 1 post # 6 for instructions & rules

THE LIST

Regarding correction factors:
Times are received from all over the country and are not corrected. Because track and weather conditions vary, this list ranking does not, and can not, identify the fastest cars or drivers in any particular order. It only lists the recorded times, regardless of conditions, in order from quickest to slowest. In cases where ET is the same, the higher MPH determines list order.

We also know how much difference a driver/track/DA can make.
True, some have bridged the gap a little bit more recently, still a full 3/10ths away though and many of these guys have in fact run in good air (it's been cold here in NJ lately) at good tracks (ie: Atco and Englishtown, where the likes of Dennis, Andrew and myself have set our bests). Also keep in mind that Andrew did that on like his 2nd or 3rd track visit, not really much seat time at all.
I do not believe that 11.7 record will fall so easily though, talented drivers with seat time or not.

Does NPP exhaust bypass really qualify my car as being modified? I really doubt that the valves being open before 3500 rpm is going to make any difference besides making the car louder (Has anyone been on a dyno with NPP bypass on and off?).I wonder if anyone else in the stock category had the bypass and didn't think it was important to mention it. Even with the bypass, I think my car fits the criteria below. Please let me know what you guys think.

1.) Showroom stock
The way it came from the factory, stock tires, air path, stat & etc.
You may add or decrease tire pressure, have as much or as little gasoline as you like

That 60ft was a 1.97, that car has 11.80s all over it if you can get it out of the hole. I cut a 1.76 60ft on my stock runflats in my auto car with a well prepped track.
Thanks, I was pretty excited as well. I think 11s are definitely in my future. This was my first time at the track and I know I can improve.

You'll have to see what they decided to do if you are running an open exhaust.

But Badassbu had his fuse pulled, which does the same thing as an operational mild to wild switch.

I'm sure the record won't be easy to break or it'd already be done.

JetstreamZ51 just went 12.ohs the first time out. If he pops the fuse in, gets more seat time, and good air he can easily go 11s.

BTW, with all the really great times, including my personal best, coming at ATCO, I'm starting to wonder if that track's shorter and downhill. I'm guessing shrinkage too when it's cold weather?

The chance of Andrew's record falling are slim to none.. To put that into perspective Andrew's stock times put him a solid #9 on the External Mods List.

I'm #3 on the stock list and to get even close to Andrew's time I would need to pick up almost a half a second and over 3 mph...To do that I would at least need a tune, a 160 degree t-stat, a cold air intake and probably drag radials and a repeat of the great weather conditions that I made my best times in...

JetStreamZ51...Great times...but your NPP mod isn't factory stock, it might not give you any gain but it could. Also you car looks lowered, if it is that could help in the mph department.....

Speaking of which, if someone had a lowered C6, would they still be allowed on the showroom stock portion of this list?

When I get a C6 someday I definitely want to lower it, but I also want to go for a good spot on the showroom stock list too, so I'd hold off on lowering the car until after I'd run the car a few times at the track.

My car isn't lowerd. Anyone that wants to actually drive their vette around town probably wont be able to lower their car. I have enough trouble getting out of my driveway. I might have to put the fuse back in and take another trip to atco. The thought of being 2nd on the list had me excited, now im kind of disappointed. Regardless, I'm very happy with what my car can do. Do I have to put the fuse back in or can I just close the valves to be considered stock? Maybe I'll dip into the 11s this time. I'll keep everyone posted.
