C6 1/4 Mile Performance Challenge

Ya ya, I know--I'm waiting for the case to split. It's only a matter of time and when it does, hopefully it doesn't take the tranny with it. I'm torn between beefier internals and a 3.90/4.10 gear right now, or wait till it breaks to replace. I know the core has value, but I'm not really in the mood to change the gears in it just yet. I want the top spot how the car sits right now.Currently I'm behind a couple heads/cam/gear cars with hired jockeys and an E85/unknown mods C6.
I've seen a good amount of your logs--I know it and you know it--you can shift faster than that and you should be well into the 10.7s if not better.

I'm not planning to beat that record...I surely cannot have many more 1.44's in my rear and these thousands are starting to add up! There is no way with my heavy convertible and smallish cam I can get to the top spot so I'm cool where I am.

Repairs are no fun for sure, and considering I haven't had to taste that just yet, I may be partially biased.

Ah Joe for all the runs you have on that car consider the cost per run and then add back the "FUN & ENJOYMENT" factor

or you should have taken my route to go the fastest for the cheapest
I see the student is getting a bit uppity...... Justin quit while you are ahead
No body knows what evil lurks in the rear differential of a M6 Driver looking for a 1.4 sixty foot
Just ask Joe
............. now back to the accounting coal mines for me....

I needed a break from these partnership returns

Tommy I do think I must have the record for launches on a stock clutch...466 and 62,000 miles. The guys asked me if I wanted to replace it while the tranny is out...I asked if they were kidding??? Roger said yes he was.

Joe, that has to be some sort of record
I know that I have a stack of time slips about an inch thick
....... so yours should be a quite a bit thicker.
And Justin just stirring the pot
. He has been very fortunate so far and I hope him all the best in his quest for a 1.4 sixty foot...... you know what we all say if you "want to play you have to be able to pay"
This is the only hobby you can do everything right and stuff still happens
Actually, both of you have been very lucky with your rears. My son as approximately 90K on his 07 M6 drives it like an old lady and it is getting a bit noisy

New PB 11.94 with 1.745 60 ft
Do my times seem right with the 60ft? I thought I would be in the 11.70's or 11.80's with this 60ft? Jermey from HP Sales Tunes the car with 20* WOT. Does this seem right? Joe G or anyone else like to crtique my slip? The other car was a 08 GT500 with a pully and intake with DR making 550 hp, he did 11.687 with about the same 60ft
Also during the 5000 launch the clutch would not fully come up. I did the ranger method. Is their a diffrent type of fluid to use? Why would'nt the clutch fully come up? I know the LS7 clutch has its limits though?

You could still pick up a tenth or two just by propping your shroud, because your mph is suffering. For $2-3 and 5 minutes to install, it's the biggest bang for the buck.
Maybe I just need more seat time?
Also I would like to add the there was a run when we were neck to neck and the driver came over to me and said man you can really bang out those gears, it was funny said yea it was my first 1.7 60ft hahahah. That was a 1.75 60ft @ 11.95 119

You need to remove your pedal spring. Here's a thread that shows how or I'll do it for you on 3/17.

DA was around 1100 so I think the mph is about on for that DA. I do agree with Tom that if you prop the shroud you'll get a little more. A little hole isn't going to give you much cool air - by the time it does, the 1/4 mile is over.
What you need is seat time and practice on the launch. With 3.90's and some experience you will get that 60 down to 1.6 and maybe even 1.5 and that'll reduce your ET's a lot and raise your MPH.

I'm happy to share what I've learned from this forum and on the strip. I'm looking forward to meeting you too.
The best advice I can give you from afar is to listen to videos of good drivers...with a ls2 or ls3 the goal is to keep the rpm's above 4000 throughout the launch process. If you bog it's a 1.8 60 foot. That requires judicial slippage of the clutch..but it'll take it. And as you are letting the clutch out you should be pushing the gas down. My best launches are at 100% throttle before the car moves. I only do that when I'm going for my best times, as it's hard on the parts.
