Got ya. I misunderstood.

I've never tried removing the rear swaybar.

sometime in march I plan on to try it before going to slicks... maybe with drag radials (stiffer side load) it can do it better?!

A good rear bar is essential for good traction. Weight shifts from the drivers side to passenger side without a bar. You then only have the passenger side tire pulling. You want the car to stay as level as possible so both rear tires pull as evenly as possible for maximum traction.

Me neither. No reason to remove the rear bar, it doesn't weigh much at all.

I think 18lbs ?

if it doesnt hurt safety/control and can sort out traction why not? besides if we think of at least 50 parts that "dont weigh that much" then we wont get car light like a honda

Because taking it off ruins the way the car drives when you are not drag racing it.

Some guys remove the front sway bar but it doesn't help launch either.

I have zero traction issues with the bars intact. The key is good drag radials (I prefer Mickey Thompson) and learning to launch your particular car.

Hi there. Haven't seen you over here since you got the Z. How's things?

On the rear bar question. Although I almost always leave mine on and almost always have the front off, the F55 shocks do the side to side compensation for weight shifts as well as front to rear. So many people think the F55 is just a soft Cadillac ride, but they don't understand how well it works for all but the most otherwise modded cars.

Interesting discussion. I'm always open to discuss and learn new things. May be more appropriate in a separate thread. Sometimes a little weight in the right place is a good thing. Not sure how it affects the cars dynamics though. Maybe David can test it on and off back to back.

And hi to you Tom! I sold my Z06 and bought a CTS-V. Then I sold it and bought a 2013 GT500. This GT500 is the fastest car I've ever been in. It has bolt-ons.

But yes that F55 is a neat suspension. Sure need something whether it be a bar or shocks to keep the car level at launch.

You may say the rear sway bar doesnt weigh much but when you are chasing every pound off the car like I was its a big weight and every pound counted. I had done it before in the past and didnt have any traction issues so I only pulled it for those all out passes. Driving it on the street I couldnt tell the difference with it on or off. And ya Im not sure it would be too smart on a stick car for the rear bar. Ive had my front bar off for 7 months and dont notice it. I do get aggressive around corners but I dont road race the car car no real point having it on there. The car is just as predicable as when it is on the car. Although m y car is pretty low which is probably why both bars off dont affect it too much.

There were DA differences but heres what the overall weight reduction did.
I went this saturday and did 11.0@122 1.49 60ft Full weight (minus front bar, windshield wiper fluid and still have the braile 17lb battery), Just swapped the hoosiers on and had driven 150 miles and was hot lapping the car. Temp was about 70 degrees.
With the skinnies, no passenger seat, and racing seat it did 10.78@125 1.44 60ft
Removed Ac belt, windshield wipers, rear bar, all carpet, mufflers, spoiler, front lip, side skirts, front grille, misc small interior stuff it did 10.52@127 1.39 60ft
Then driver swap and did 10.42@128 1.37 60ft

Definitely moving! Weight reduction is a great way to go quicker, I also got .2 from skinnies and ! passenger seat.

Is your car a manual?

What did it weigh in its lightest form and your normal street form?

My car's lightest is 3165 and normal is 3250.

My car is auto.
I didnt get it on the scale in the lightest form but heres how the weights look
Just hoosiers. light battery, no windshield wiper fluid/tank, no front sway bar, half tank: 3230
skinnies, racing seat, no passenger seat, 1/8 tank 3010
Removed all that other stuff I figured it was about, 1/8 tank 2930
Driver swap was another ~120lbs out

One time it rained before and was spinkling at 5pm when the racing was supposed to start and they still let us race. On my 3rd pass on a wet track managed a 10.9@125 with a low 1.5 60ft. It was definitely an interesting pass going all over the place but I got it down through there.

On street tires I usually 60ft 1.7s
Just hoosiers high 1.49-1.51
Basic weight reduction 1.44-1.46
And all out high 1.37-1.39

Bump me up the times a bit now that I used a semi-real tire (aka drag radial). This is my first time I'm running with a drag radial on any car. Still need some practice but it was nice to not only hit a mid 10 second pass but to get a new best MPH too.

EDIT: Make sure quality set to either 720p60 or 1080p60 to get HD and 60 frames per second for better viewing
1st race is the 10.62. Second race was a 10.93 run with the speedometer...spun a tad in 1st launched too high

1st race is the 10.62. Second race was a 10.93 run with the speedometer...spun a tad in 1st launched too high
