ps to centinennial ., your 1st gear is a 2.97 (which makes 2nd and 3rd come sooner in this transmission gearing) you will for sure need to grab 4th .,if you were a ls7 car for instance where 3rd is deeper especially with 20” wheels then you could ride out 3rd since also ls7 rev limiter is higher .,
Always shift at redline...there is an old thread proving this out in this forum using Dyno sheets. If you can stay in third through the traps and not hit the rev limiter, then do so.

Here you go, more reading from long ago.

Ok Gents, here is my update.

Ran the car a total of 5 times, Messed up one so didnt get a printed time. I launched it at too low of an rpm (2000) and just dumped the clutch, so i bogged twice, and then got too much wheelspin on times when i launched it with a higher rpm. I need to practice some more. But it was A LOT of fun.

It was 86 degrees and humid, so everyone was complaining that their cars were running slow.

Best of my 5 runs was a 13.2. The trap speed is low because I never shifted to 4th because my synchro sometimes grinds in 4th only (thanks to stupid skip shift)

I also let my girl run it by herself one time. She didnt launch it and granny shifted it and got a 14.2. Not bad for someone who barely ever drives stick

Manuals are hard to launch at the track. Takes practice (if your clutch holds up). Got to find the right combo of rpm and clutch slip to not bog but not spin. . Dumping the clutch just results in bogging if too low rpm or spinning if too high rpm (as you found). You have to raise rpms and quickly slip the clutch. Or you could get some drag radials. That would give you traction at a more aggressive clutch engagement. However, 13.29 at about 102 is a good ET for that mph. Shifting cleanly into 4th would have broken 13 seconds.

It takes practice, but it’s fun. Here is how I do it.

Yes, and last thing I want to do is break my car on the track. So, I just need to find that sweet spot. I did shift into 4th on the run where I got a false start, so I never knew my time but my speed was def more then 102.

Nice to hear from you buddy! Still have the Vette but don't have anyone to race here in Missouri (I moved back home).

I heard you can now get gears for the Z06 rear, who did you have install them? They are a great mod as you know.

11' GS vert with BB Bullets and a foam filter.
Stick with MGW shifter
Michilin Pilots.
Middle aged fat guy driver.

I need to find my slip(in the car somewhere) but went to a different track last week and ran 13.19 @ 111.1.

Previous best was a 13.2? at 108. Spins/wheel hops in second and the DA was almost 2600. All in all I think that is in the ballpark for a stock GS with a crappy driver.

Is there anyone else who wants to see the list updated? I have everything that is currently on the list plugged into an excel sheet and I plan on using the Weather Underground history to try to get DA for as many times as I can.

Just wondering if I'm doing this for myself or if anyone else would benefit from a better/updated list?

Three things to consider.
1. Post as a new thread, since CF won't allow anyone to take over this thread without the current authorized users permission and that hasn't happened for 2 years now.
2. Use the same format and requirements for new entries and updates to your list to keep the results compatible with earlier and current data.
3. Forget DA. Drag Times uses airport data that may be 20+ miles from the track. WU uses data from private residential stations, that according to their locations can easily vary by as much as 600' of DA in as little as a mile. It would be nice if every track had station data transmitted from mid-track sensors and printed on time slips, but I don't see that happening soon.
BTW, you'd also need to go on Google Earth to verify elevation, since DT info is rarely correct and WU's data is where the station is located.

Wow that was an awesome time. Was the car in Competition mode? I'm assuming you didn't use launch control, just launched it yourself?

Thanks! No, I drive with everything off. No, I haven't even tried launch control yet. Prefer to not rely on the computer as I like a challenge and don't want it hiding any input flaws I may make.

You are correct. The factory launch control wont come close to your 1.7 60' mine went 1.9-2.1 with launch control and I've done a best of 1.69 without. I still have work to do.
