Default Need Exhaust help

This is my first Vette. I also have a 2004 Mustang Gt convirtable with all the bolt on's. The Vette is being built and should arrive mid April. It's a 2008 Black on Black Coupe with an A6. I cought the mod sickness with the Mustang and it appears to have worsened with the pending arrival of the Vette... The CAI is not as big of a decission but I'm loosing sleep over what exhaust. The Mustang had a wicked drone at highway speed, I was able to get rid of it with a gear swap.

Is the NPP option worth it? I like the ability to set it at mild for highway crusing however I'm worried the "wild" option won't be enough of the Muscal car sound I'm looking for

From everyone I've talked to plus alot of people on this forum... They all seem to really like it alot. It's quiet when you wan't it to be & it sounds like a beast when you wan't as well. I think there is an aftermarket remote control to open and close it whenever you wan't which is really nice
It sounds like the perfect exhaust system right from the factory

The option price is $1200....I don't think I'll find an aftermarket exhaust system installed for that price??

I have the NPP with the M2W,,I like it very much,,maybe theres a corvette club in your area where someone has it and you can perhaps check it out. Further proof the M2W is great,,my wife hates it,,she says the neighbors will be mad at us its so loud,,, so I turn it off when I come down my street.

I have the NPP exhaust on my '08 vette and I love it. I also added the M2W which allows the driver to have "noise" whenever you want it. The NPP, IMHO, is definitely worth it.

I wouldnt count on the vette ever sounding as good as your mustang.

Mustangs have a much throatier sound vs the higher toned sound of the vette.

I went with borla stingers and feel it's the best choice for the C6...the NPP exhaust isnt nearly loud enough from what I've heard (sound clips don't count...they seem to make everything sound a lot louder than it actually is. From sound clips I expected my stingers to be NASTY, but they're pretty tame for the most part)

so far, only one person has been on this forum and said they didn't like the NPP option, and it's not me!

I think you'll like it.

I've been listing to as many clips as I can find and thanks for hint on the sound quality....most guy's I talk to say I need to go to a show or a local club and listen to a few live feeds. I don't have the patients for that. I want this work done within the first 2 weeks of delivery. With the Stang I did the mods bit by bit but I've learned that CAI and Exhaust are the first step and I like the Stinger / Vararam combo to start with. (can't wait for this @#!! snow to melt)

The ONLY problem with the NPP option is the tips! Sure they sound nice, but, the main reason I have been looking for a different exhaust are the tips. The stock tips look lame & cheap.....period! The sound is one thing, however,if I were getting a new 08 I'd skip that option ,save 1200 bucks & seach for a used set of whatevers a lot cheaper with great tips. That's my opinion...

The Stingers are louder, the Touring are milder. If you're going with headers, the touring is fine. Both are better than stock.

Talkign about headers....what's the work load for the install. On my mustang I passed on them due to the 8hr job for the install and the benifts were minimal. The other thing was the X-pipe I installed, I would have needed to change it with a long tube install and the shorties didn't seem worth it.

On the vette...are the headers the same lenght as the stock manifold? as well, is the install as complecated as a Mustang?

You need a specific x-pipe for the longtubes as it relocates the cats or removes them.

My car did not come with NPP and I hated the sound or lack of sound. I got the dealer to install GM performance exhaust nad it was just way too loud. I had them ripped out and put the NPP in with pipedreasm "NPP IN A BOX" I LOVE IT!!!!!! Loud when you want tha and quite when you want that. There is some drone but not much. The only problems is it still not the old muscle car sound of the 60s & 70s. I don't think Ive heard that on any C%'s or C6's. I had Corsa touring on my C5, its was nice but not old muscle car. I;d get the NPP.

There's a muffler mod that can be made with the stock NPP mufflers. Quiet or straight pipe...

Anyone put a cat'd X pipe on the NPP? I still want to keep the car legal.

If you are not putting headers on the car, a catted X pipe is a waste of money. And your car won't be legal - Federal regs require that cats remain in the location that the manufacturer placed them. Just an FYI.
