Anyone running these on the street? I have a '07 A6 that see's occasional dragstrip action.
Any problems either inherent (as in underdrive/overdrive pulley applications) or experienced by anyone with the C6?
What performance gains has anyone realized if any?
Any input is appreciated.............
UD pulleys will be good for maybe 5-8hp. The reason you don't see many people talk about them is because they are hard to replace. Unless you do a cam install, which requires taking the stock pulley off, is is not worth the price of installing. The install of the pulley would cost more than the pulley itself. However, if you are going to do a cam swap than a pulley is a good idea because it won't cost any extra to install it.
As far as the pulley itself, you just got to be careful and make sure it is aligned correctly.
March pulleys merged with Fluiddampner, and Made a 12 hp ud pulley
with a balancer built in. I'm ready to try one, You have to remove
the steering rack so it will be a liitle fun. I have done a few others and always
was happy withe the results.
I have a PowerBond u/d pulley which seemed to be equal in quality to the others at a very reasonable price. Mine went on w/ cam, so no real b/f & a/r #s. I will tell you all the Hp guys swear by them & there's lots of info stating 8-10 hp gains over & over. My personal experience has been positive & the car hasn't suffered any ill effects to the charging system or accessories. My car, an 05 6MN w/ a mild cam only, & with the usual bolt ons posting 450+rwhp. I am firmly of the opinion the difference between the good performing cars & the exceptional ones is the sum total of well thought out & synergistic mods. An underdrive pulley would be one of those mods worth doing w/ a cam & a few others. Done alone, specifically w/o changing the cam it may not be worth the trouble given it is fairly labor intensive compared to gains from a FAST intake or headers for the amount of work.
It's not as hard as some people make it out to be. Haven't done it on a Vette, but I installed the PowerBond on my GTO and it wasn't hard at all. Like someone else said, good for around 5-8hp or so and the price isn't bad. If you do it yourself, then it's definitely worth it....if you are going to pay to have it done, then wait until/if you decide to do a cam. A ported stock intake manifold will gain a bit more power for near the same price, and will take less time to install. Just my .02
Because it's on there tight, you certainly don't want it coming off do ya? LOL
Plus there are other things that have to be removed/moved out of the way to access that area, it can be a tedious procedure but not too bad, proven gains too.
I just got the Powerbond with the crank bolt and belt from forum sponser Byunspeed for $200 delivered....cheapest price I could find and had it in just a day or two.
I will say that my car definitely has a harder time keeping the really cool coolant temps that it used to be able to do with the stock pulley. I am far from running hot, but it is the only thing I have noticed a difference in.

Did you raise your idle speed when you put the cam in? A 750 rpm idle speed would just about restore the accessories to the stock speed.
