Default shocks on a stock C6

i may have an issue with my shocks on my stock C6. i was looking at the z51 shocks and the Z06 shocks. why are the z06 shocks cheaper that the z51's?
any benefit to using either?

Skip both of those. Go with either Bilstein HD's if you want somethng sporty (and inexpensive $300) or the Koni FSD's if you put a premium on ride comfort for about twice the money. Both are valved far better than either the Zo6 or Z51 shocks. Pfadt also has a new adjustable if you want to spend some bucks..

You can find used Z51 and Z06 shocks CHEAP though.

I got my Z06 shocks (5000 miles on them) for 50 bucks and shipping.

I havent put them on yet, but plan on it in the next month or so.

I did Bilsteins, and am very happy with the results. Great mod for $300.

I should add that I've had bilstein on another vehicle (firebird) and loved them.

If buying shocks new then I would certainly look at the bilsteins.

One more option is the Edelbrock Performer IAS shocks. Run about $400 shipped.

NO if you have a base model putting any other shock will not make it handle better! IF YOU WANT A BASE MODEL TO HANDLE "BETTER" PUT Z51 SWAY BARS ON IT!!!!!!! gmpartshouse.com $180.00 shipped I think YOU WILL BE AMAZED!!!

I wouldn't trust that they will since they are valved for a much higher spring and sway bar rate....Good luck!

Primarily from the numerous posts here on CF from Z51 owners that have made the swap to Bilsteins..

What if you're running the F55 magnetic ride control but are looking for flatter turns (when sport is selected) with out giving up the softer touring ride (when touring is selected)?

If you spent $400 on a set of bilsteins...I think you too would say they were great ,...but are the stock Z-51 shocks actually made by Bilstein anyway as well...

Just put on Z51 sways and Pfadt Poly sway bushings and you'll be set. Many have done this with great reviews.

?? Huh? You're full of urban myths here... I paid $275 for a set of New Bilsteins HD's, sold my 1000 mile set of stockers for $150 for a net cost of$125. No indication of "Bilstein" on the stock shocks BTW...They are quite different, both in construction and valving..
