Sam, there is a motorcycle vendor on ebay who sells tape for the wheels. Normally they sell for 17" motorcycle wheels, but a friend of mine wrote and asked for tape for his 19" inifiniti wheels and they cut it for him. They come in small strips, so about 5 pieces to a wheel, but he got enough strips to do about 8 wheels for 15. I didn't do his wheels, as he isn't local, but I did do the calipers.

THAT is perfect! I can try out the red lip, and if I don't like it, I can just pull it off! Could you PM me a link; I can't seem to find it?

I don't know. It looks crooked in my opinion. It's cheap alright, but it looks cheap imho. I'd stick with the wheels as is over that. Nice job corvettepilot.

You are way picky! I was going to pay a body shop to professionally paint that lip on my wheels. I think the tape is a really cheap (15 bucks or so) way of getting 99% of that look without commiting to having the lip on there for ever... I can always power wash the tape off...

Yeah, I am. I understand not wanting to paint something on you may not like. If I were going to paint a red line on the rim, it would be kind of centered on the outer lip and a thin line. That's why I'm not crazy about that tape I guess. I think the wheels came out nice. Black, shiny and they kind of have that black chrome effect.

There is a member on here (cg-vette) that has his black wheel striped red. You might search his name and look for pics. I asked him awhile back about it and this was his answer:

Glad to help you with your questions. Yes, the stripping is a 1/4 inch. I ordered it from an online store that provides motorcycle rim striping. I believe I got the "Ducati red" color but they have tons to choose from. I ordered it from www.tapeworks.com.

Hey just thought i would throw this out there for you to consider.

I think if you put the grand sport fender stripes without the hood stripe, and if you left the wheels all black with the red calipers would look pretty awesome. The fender and/or hood stripes with the wheel stripe and the red calipers would be too much red IMO.

Again just tossing up ideas, but like you said, if you dont like the red stripe on the wheels you could easily yank it off.

If you black out the wheels and do the grand sport stripes, then you'll be doing the look I had a while back.

Right now I have blacked out side lights, 20% tint, black rims, red calipers. I did have the red GS stripes for a while, and at one point had comp gray rims.

Currently all black photos:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...tos-today.html

All black with the red stripe, but before blacked out side lights:

When I had the stripe and comp gray rims:

When I return I'm thinking about putting the red stripes back on...

Were your wheels stripped before the powdercoating? Every ounce counts right?

Wheels were mostly stripped. Hand sanded down to bare metal in most places. One was sent out and completely stripped and media blasted, because I wasn't happy with the finish and had to redo it.

VERY NICE!

I definitely like it better with the red fender stripes: No question about it.

But I still can't decide if the red lips and hood stripes would be too much red... I think the best plan is to just do it and take them off if I don't like it...

I was at a shop today and saw a set of black PC wheels looked almost as good as yours,
they had the word Corvette in fineline letters(red) on one spoke, nothing else,
looked great!!!

Default Even closer!

Got my GM Certified Official Merchandise C6 logos, and stuck them to the center caps... Since the caps have an odd shape, I made a template to identify the exact geometric center of the logos and the caps, and line them both up

One of the wheels... No red ring yet...
