I'm sure the MGW is a great shifter based on all the good reviews. The question is "Do you need it on an 09?" I don't think so. My 05 had a very long throw and I kept turning off he AC going for third. I put a B&M on that car and it make a world of improvement. Now my 09 has the new transmission with a short throw shifter from the factory. And for me it's fine and no rattles under power.
If you're missing shifts it's not because of the shifter, it's because you aren't letting the transmission do the gear selection. 1st to 2nd is straight back. How can you mess that up? 2nd to 3rd is a push straight forward with the palm of your hand and no side pressure. Again, how can you screw that up? And 3rd to 4th is straight back. Again, even a cave man could do that.

Is the 09 shifter different from the 08? My 08 throw was FAR too long. The MGW tightened up feel and shortened the throw. Shifts became faster and more precise. The stock shifter is loose and sloppy imo. Not to mention the stock shift *** is slick. My hand slipped off and slammed into the radio twice in 1k miles. The MGW was on by 3k miles in my 08. Now at 10k the mgw is better than ever.
Bottom line, you want the shortest shift with the best feel? MGW all the way.
if the 09 is leaps and bounds better then the 08 then you most prob dont need it. i know my 08 is worlds better then the C5.. but sucked compared to the Stock 95 shifter i put in my 98 supra or the B&M in my supra.. the MGW in the c5 i drove was awesome. i cant wait to install mine into my 08..

That's great that the stock is working out well for you. No need to spend money if you have no problem.
George at MGW has commented on the wide variation in tolerances in the stock shifter, shifter box and transmission linkage. And I can see he's right. Those shifts that even a "cave man can do" were not that easy to do correctly, and quickly on mine, such as 1-2, and 3-4. And rattling became a big issue (just ask Z06 owners' as they are experiencing more frequent problems with shifter box rattling). Different people will experience different issues (or complete satisfaction) with the same stock shifter.
I had a problem, and I've had 3 different aftermarket models in search of the perfect solution, and now I'm satisfied. I actually liked the original **** and it worked well for me, but it isn't a component in my current solution.
I guess it boils down to what you are used to. If you are used to a c5/fbody t56 the stock c6 08 shifter is awesome. if you are used to a real short throw shifter. it feels like you are rowing a boat.
