I am more concerned about bottom end performance , more then being able to do 200mph.
Would I benefit more from a cam or 4.10 gears? On the freeway, I am not going above 80 on average and more street driving then freeway driving.
I have the HURRICANE INTAKE, DIABLO PREDATOR PROGRAMMER and BASSANI Cat-Back.
Manual 6 speed

For one, ditch the Predator, and get a custom road and dyno tune. The cat-back is mostly for sound and looks, but will not add power. Yes, if you want more low end grunt, add 4.10 gears along with a good tune. If money permits, add long tube headers with a high flow X pipe, as it would help your motor breath much better.
The Bassani is an X-Pipe, Headers I would love but can't do to SMOG.

How about Z06 exhaust system? Can be had for less than $500..if you install..then Gears...4:10's sound like they will fit the bill, and a tune..Next mod:sticky tires..
Would that be the EXHAUST MANIFOLDS you are talking about?

With the budget and living in cali (former resident) I would go with the gears and a tune. Headers are illeagal for you and you would come close on emissions with a cam as well. A SC setup is out of your cash range from what you have stated and the gears will not actually make your car much faster but will give you that out of the hole and midrange thump that you are looking for. I will pull like a raped ape throught pretty much the whole range.
i added the full z06 exhaust minus the mufflers..got the whole system for right around 300$..picked up a good bit of bottomend..I'd also reccommend going with the 4.10's..might lose 2-3mpg on highway..but nothing serious cruising around town..o and get a good tune..there was a set of 4.10's in the for sale section pretty cheap..might wanna check...
Calif SUCKS, I have been stopped TWICE for SAFETY INSPECTIONS. Both were at Check Points. Pop hood and look around
Yup I'm with you 100% I wouldn't move there if they GAVE me a HOUSE and a C6 to go with it !! Ca. SUCKS.. However to be fair it has some GREAT people... (not to many in the Movie business)
I'd agree with gears. But I don't know if I'd go 4.10, or 3.73/3.90.
OP. if you're interested, I have a couple low end torque emissions friendly cams. Smooth idle, stock valve spring friendly, guaranteed to pass Cali emissions inspection.

This has been mentioned (just like this) a few times in a few threads by various tuners, but noone ever followed up and no further info has been presented. Do you have a dyno graph of this sort of cam?

I did that with my SS, except I spent the money for good springs and went with agressive lobes. I gained a lot of low end torque and surprisingly respectable power on the top end.
