The top edge in the second picture doesn't look like a perfect cut. I think he may really have done it.

Yeah because every ex import owner cuts giant holes in their hood, brilliant.

I give you props on doing this mod...especially doing it youself. It came out pretty good IMO. Do you plan on leaving the hood like this or you have something else planned for it?

You have to stop delivering food underneath the bridge.

From what I've seen, something like that, just like, well, video games, it's is in the ricer's blood. It's not something they shake.

A hole in the hood, a park bench on the rear of the car, undercarriage neon lights, and especially one of these bad boys any can make a ricer at heart, regress to his ricing ways.

This hood might be just the thing to make those attracted to such modifications, open their wallets.

I bet he'd go through a few saw blades before he met demand.

So now all import drivers are ricers. Care to troll more?

I never said that.

Why are you so sensitive?

In fact, I didn't even say that 90%, like someone said of Vette owners.

You might try proping up the rear of your hood (beer can cut in half works fine) and see if this will help vent heat out the rear. I doubt if you will see any difference. Controling heat is a function of controling the coolant and oil fluids. If the engine was air cooled, venting would surely help, but, .............

Good luck.
I agree that coolant/oil control is needed to control heat in the engine, but neither have a great affect on underhood air temps except making them higher. IAT changes can mean significant HP swings and the only reasonable method to control the upper underhood air temp is through air flow, such as scoops and vents. If the OP has an intercooler it adds to the problem.
Your ewp is probably the key to lower coolant temps in stop and go traffic, which seems to be the OP's problem.

At the end of the day, you have to be your own man. Do what YOU like, not what others think.

Having said that, my SC has been exposed for several years, with no negative effects...well unless you count strangers asking to have pictures taken with your car, being run off the road due to rubber-neckers, and generally being a magnet for every car with an intake/exhaust/fancy stripes, etc. on the road.

Holy crap Doug. A few spare hours on your hands??? Looks different and if you are happy with it, GREAT That should let some more heat out, it's hard to keep these cars cool around town. The water temps are one thing, exhaust and other temps are a different story all together.

Randy, yes I have had some hours in the garage. You and your dad will be the first ones to see the new look next time I stop by.

That's funny, Chevrolet cuts a hole in the hood of the ZR1 and people think its the coolest thing they have ever seen. I cut a hole in my hood and now I'm a ricer? Give me a break.

Muncie, your C5 looks bad axx! I don't know, a blower under the hood and some air to cool it all down, works for me!

Here are a few close up shots after I had time to do some finish sanding. The lines are almost perfect. Anyone wants to stop by and see it first hand the fridge is full:

I gotta say it looks pretty cool! Probably because of the engine bay mods though. The only problem for me is that the it would be impossible to make the lines for the hole, engine and hood look smooth together. I would actually say it would look better if it actually stretched further to the rear of the hood.

PS dont forget plexy.

I agree, the lines look perfect. I also agree with your ZR1 comparison. It never ceases to amaze me what people will say on a forum that they would never say to your face. If you had only shown it cut and said that the plexi louver was on it's way, your box would be full with requests for info. You da man Doug.
