Soon I will have a 230+ duration cam put in with the stock intake and was wondering if all ported TB's produce about the same gains? Is there one which stands out from the rest with above average gains and quaility? Thank you
Nope, they are all about the same. They really help throttle response. What I would do, while it is still apart, is send them both out (Spin) and have the intake and TB ported. Together they are worth near 20rwhp +/-.
Your TB's look good and thank you for the reply. The shop I go through has a ported TB included as part of their Custom NA Cam Package. The TB was one part I was wondering if someone else out there set the standard but it seems all produce similar gains. As most can understand I don’t want to hack the shops package and cut their profit. The cam is still up in the air as with most of us…oh for the days when a cam choice was so much simpler for the street/strip.
A mid/high end 383 rotating assembly with Comp cams XR286R/292XER bump stick breathing through a BG Race Demon RS 675 on top of a RPM Air Gap with AFR 210 heads ingesting/expelling would turn out a easy 500+ hp and nearly as much torque with 9.75:1 compression sipping…ummm gulping 87 octane…yet modern technology is good and we don’t have to look at a ¼ tank and idle to the gas station. Looking forward to this modern mill.
