Hello. Today, I had the check engine light which turned on when I try to start the engine. No way to start the engine and I don't have any messages other than the engine light switched on. How to access the DIC codes. I tried to apply the C5 method but it didn't work.
Thanks for your help.
You cannot access the codes on a C6 like the C5 did, that feature was discontinued on the C6 (unfortunately). To access them yourself you will need to buy a scanner and plug it into the scan port.

If you don't want to buy one chances are your local AutoZone store (or somewhere similar) will check your car for codes. Many auto parts stores do this as a free service.
I have an Equus/Innova 3100 code reader...it's one of their middle of the road models but it does everything I need (for what little I use it).
Thanks a lot to everybody for your help! I might buy one and will provide feedback on the forum about the root cause of my issue.
Really strange as my car was running perfectly last time I parked it inside my garage. I did not use it for 10 days and now it does not want to start....
Wonderful !! That is right that Autozone provides you a scanner for free. I paid $160 that will be refundable when I will return it within 90days. The one they gave me, Acton CP9135, wasn't CAN capable... but it was the only one they had. It did not work at all, I had a message "Link Error" all the time.
Well, I decided to check all the fuses removing all of them one by one.
I wanted to share with you one strange think I noticed: in the engine compartment fuse block all the relays were not pluged completely. So I had to push all of them.
And when I started again my vette it worked normally with no more the check engine light on !!!! My car has 28000 miles 2005, so if some of you might have one day this kind of issue, check all your fuses and relays !
But I'd still buy a code reader, I think I paid about $75 for my ODB II CAN enabled reader. I'ved used it at least a dozen times - mostly on other cars but it did come in handy when my new (to me 07) Z06 CEL came on. The two codes were common and there was a TSB to correct the problem.
Not sure where I read it but someone suggested reseating all of the fuses and modules. I sprayed them with a contact cleaner and reseated each and my check engine light was gone when I started the car. Who ever posted that info is my new hero.

I have done the same thing. I have since bought HP Tuners (obvioulsy more for tuning) but I still use the scanner for a quick and dirty check when necessary on all my cars.
