Default hvac unit display blinking

I have a 05 c6, tried searching for the problem, but found nothing....has anyone heard or seen this happen, and what the solution is....the unit works fine when it is blinking, and it doesn't happen all the time, but it is really irritating when it is happening

Yes, happened to me the other day. 1 day after a complete detail (inc engine bay). Otherwise no idea what caused it. Going to the dealer under warranty (GMPP). I'll let you know what I find.

My 08 did that, The dealer replaced the A/C head unit. No problems since.

Mine started blinking, but the A/C worked, then the A/C started to fail as well.
This was intermittent in nature.

Great, now mine is blinking too, but the A/C still works on my 05. Should I head off the problem and get it fixed now even though it's still working? The blinking does drive me crazy though. And it's not doing it every time I drive the car.

A blinking display is usually just the first sign of a dying unit. If you're car is under warranty get it in and replaced. If not warranty then no harm in letting it go 'till it completely quits. However, you might want to make sure your dealer, or you if you're paying, gets a new part in hand before you actually need it.

Thanks for your advice. And thank goodness for the extended warranty I bought! Bringing her in tomorrow for a replacement unit. I tell ya, that extended warranty has already paid for itself and then some.

One other caveat, some have reported here that their dealer refused to replace their unit, under warranty, because it wasn't "acting up" when it was at the dealer. Then others have reported that their dealer replaced it no question, even though it wasn't "acting up" when they had it. Presumably those dealers have seen enough C6's with the failing units that they know it's just a matter of time. Hope you have a knowledgeable dealer and no headaches. Just sayin'.

My HVAC display has done this twice in the past two weeks, the latest time today at lunch time. I took a video of it and showed it to my local dealer, but as expected, they won't do anything about it until it fails in front of them. I guess "video evidence" is not good enough for them (click on image below).

I really hate dealing with dealerships.

Bumping an old thread. Just wanted to say that I have a 2007 C6 Z06 with 15,000 miles and it just started blinking tonight.

I noticed it when I left work so before pulling out, I turned off the engine and back on. It was still blinking...I went to Walmart to pick up some goodies, came out in literally 5 minutes and it went away.

From the previous post in this thread, this is an indication of a dying unit.

Thankfully I have the GM extended warranty on my 2007 C6 Z06 so I'll bring it in eventually. Hoping that my dealership doesn't blow smoke up my *** about it not doing it when I drive it in....Will update later.

Just a thought about that. A few members here have had success videoing the unit when it is acting up and showing the video to the service writer if the unit happens to be working when they take the car in and they balk at just fixing it on your word. Again, just a thought that may help. Good luck.

What a smart suggestion. I'll remember that and have more than just my word
