Just wondering if the 1st to 4th feature on my 06 vette has anything to do with my downshifting problem? Whenever I try to downshift it feels like the same solenoid that blocks me from going into 2nd gear keeps me from downshifting? The car won't downshift unless I reduce my speed or force it into the desired gear. And I'm not trying to jump from 6th to 1st lol.
The lock out gate should not have any effect on down shifts. Do you "double clutch" downshifts, especially at higher speeds or rpms? I've always driven that way with all the manual shift cars I've owned over the years & never experienced any problem like you describe.
I'm not double clutching or rev matching. For example sometimes I'm slowing down before I take a turn & I try to down shift, but it wont go into gear....I have to force it. If I have a bent shifter rail would it affect my regular shifting because I only have this prob when downshifting. And why is it that I can downshift with ease @ low speeds & rpms? Sometimes I need to slam it from 6th to 4th, but it wont go into gear until I slow down?????
Because I had the same problem on a Z28 and it was a bent shifter rail. It would up shift perfectly but would not downshift unless I was going very slow.

Tom
I suppose it is possible but I have never heard of a bent shifter rail in a C6, have you? Where would it bend?
