I am aware that GM has upgraded (or did Tremec upgrade all 6060's, or was this a GM-only spec requested by GM?) the syncro's to Carbon Cone construction.
What syncro material is in the '09-'10 (and '08, for that matter?)
The reason I ask is that I have heard other fluids (full synthetic) allow a better shift than the OEM.
However, when I had my T56, I know the syncro material was made of some organic material. A synthetic transmission fluid is a lot more hydroscopic (water-attracting) than the dino-oil stuff. It was a no-no as it would cause the synco material to swell and screw everything up.
What are the syncro's made of in the '08-10? Can it handle synthetic fluid?
I have read about the '11 GT500's having a TON (nearly everyone on that forum who has one, has posted that they experience this to some degree) of 1-2 gear-change issues. They use the same transmission as the 'vettes, or so I thought. Did anything change in the TR6060 between '08 and '10 in the 'vette world, and is this as much of an issue with the corvette, or is it due to something Ford does different? I have read a few upset stories from the people on this forum, but NOTHING like what's going on with the Shelby guys.
The reason I ask is because I am considering an '09-'10 Z06 with garage-queen miles on it instead of a '11 Grand Sport (I like the fixed roof, and the Z06 depreciated a LOT faster than I thought, so the '09 Z would cost the same as a '11 GS), but I don't want to deal with transmission issues of the older transmission and what to know if they can be avoided with better fluid, etc.
the only issue is when the trans is cold, once it is up to temp, they shift like butter...
I'm runnint the Mobile one ATF in mine...believe it is fully syntec, 6000 miles thus far, no issues...didn't make any difference when the trans is cold, same as the stock fluid.

Wonder if the '11s are any better with the new syncros. Time will tell. I am debating whether or not to buy a lightly used '09 or '10 in January, or hold off until about this time in '11 and buy new after dealers drop to invoice and stack discounts like they are doing now.

Doubt there could be much improvement. The stiff cold shifts don't even last a mile in really cold weather. Going from 1 to 2 the shifter is harder to move and there is a little gear bumping but its gone very quickly. Not worth worrying about.

I agree although mine takes a bit Moore than a mile in cold weather.
I also noticed that the way I handle the shifter while shifting seems to change the amount of gear push back when cold. I haven't tried adjusting the shifter as changing my shifting motion is less time consuming...
