Default Do you think I have an aftermarket cam? Looking to add more power.

M6 ls2 with a 91 tune made 392hp and 430 tq. Full bolt on. Dyno done on a chassis dyno. The guy I bought it from said it had a small cam, although I do not hear much chop to the exhaust. Based on the much higher torque, I’m thinking there may be a cam and the heads are limiting the hp. I’m thinking of adding heads only if it has a cam or both heads and cam if not. My goal is to make around 430rwhp. Im not sure how to check if there’s a cam but would prefer not to put another cam in if there’s already an aftermarket cam.

thoughts?

And the follow up… if I add just heads, what size springs would be safe to go with? 660?

Did the person you bought it from put the cam in it? If so he should have given you the info on it. Maybe a tuner can chime in and give you an answer based on the dyno numbers but can you post an idle video so we can hear?

I’ll definitely get a video.

unfortunately I bought it from a dealership and they told me the guy that traded it in said it had a cam.

Very likely it has a small cam. My 2006 GTO with the LS2 dyno'd right at 400 wheel hp and tq with a very mild cam. Stock wheel hp and tq should be closer to 350.
