Default Best headers?

What are best headers and x-pipe to put on a stock 07 C6? And why? What if anything do i need to do after the install, but not a tune?

long tube headers? if not going long tubes dont even bother with any sort of shorty header.. if you go with long tubes a tune is very much recommended to get the best results... we use and recommend kooks or american racing headers

All of the longtube headers will give similar results with slight differences in power/torque under the curve depending on primary length.

My suggestion is to get the cheapest headers you can find. OBX and Texas Speed currently have pretty affordable longtubes for our cars.

I have no-name headers that I picked up and they make just as much power as any other setup. There's only so much science behind what a header does.

It gets to a point that you are paying for a name, and that certainly means something to some people...no problem with that.

Forum favorite is LG's followed probably by Kooks and American Racing

My kook's headers are pretty nice, but both crossover pipes i've had did not fit properly.

AR headers and x pipe with no problems. Picked up close to 48 rwhp with them and a tune. Catted too.

Unless you looking for all out racing w/ highly modified motors where winning & loosing is down .0001/secs, the above advice is right on. I have Kooks & George w/ Kooks is very helpful (as I was looking for optimum setup for fairly moddeed motor) & a hellava nice guy, & customer service always counts for something. I did the install solo on jackstands in my garage, so they go together EZ too w/ zero problem 4 years later.

1) LG Super Pro headers-very expensive, but the only ones that truly have 32" long primaries to improve TQ throughout the whole power curve. Great for bragging rights and most will agree, if price isn't an issue....they are the best.

2) American Racing-only slightly cheaper than LG style and they don't have 32" primaries. The quality in fit and finish is GREAT though!

3) Kooks-cheap and best bang for the buck for a racer on a budget.

I've personally had all three on different LSx cars over the years.

No such thing. Personal preference. I've got KOOKS but can't say they are better or worse than any other.

I've run Kooks and TSP's and the TSP's were very affordable. The fit and finish was not up to Kooks but they still made 485rwhp on an LS3 with a 228/232 cam and full bolt ons.

TSP has a stainless set on the way, I may go that route as well, they just offer them so much cheaper. IIRC, my TSP's were $950 (1 7/8's Coated w/off road 3"x3").

This is the first time I've ever seen Kooks referred to as "cheap", lol. I guess cheaper than the others, but still very expensive for a set of headers.

Best is a matter of opinion but for my money there was only one choice...LG Pro Longtube headers (coated)!

Kind of like saying "I paid 10K for a cheap diamond but I would have had to pay 10.5K for a good one".

I have personally run Kooks on my Corvettes, and they have done great. All the big name brands will have have top notch quality, and the big difference being support. If you are looking for Kooks, give us a call at 443-730-9428 and we can take car of you.

Something like headers shouldn't need much product support :P

I have lg's with cats, xpipe, running through stock (non-npp mufflers). Would like to get a set of stock npps, but it sounds great the way it is now. Got about 50 hp from them, maybe a tad less, but I am very happy. I got the headers, tune, plugs, wires, and intake. Gearing is next. Car rides great. Very drivable then lots of power when you get on it. Can't wait for the next mod.

Choice 1 has slipfit connection on the collector. It makes the other two
the better choice IMO!

FYI, no headers for the C6 are CARB (California air resources board) approved. When your first smog check comes due you could fail the visual test.
