Default Mopower's Texas Mile results / experience

What a great event. I was there all 3 days. I met forum memebers Drivinfast, Peterpan, Patric G & Floco.

Car - 2007 Vert.

The conditions were windy with high temps, not exactly the best conditions for record runs.

The car ran great with no issues and kept asking for more. I drove it to the event and drove it home.
I made 16 passes with a best speed of 176.6 mph.
The best mph I'm aware of for a stock ZR1 was 178.5 mph, so I feel like the Vert held it's own nicely.

We were there also but did not see all the familiar faces as we were parked with the RV at the 1 mile marker area.

Nice run!!!

How were you configured? Nice speed esp for windy conditions.

Congrats on a successful trip. I have never driven any vehicle that fast. Is your Vert equipped with a Roll Bar System? I assume the Vert Rag Top held the 176.6 mph run without concern.

Nice run!!!
I talked to a guy driving a red Z06 who ran over 190 mph that had nitrous, who wasn't teched for 190+. He said they told him break 190 mph again and you are out forever. I enjoyed it to much to take that chance and the vert won't get there yet anyway without some serious tailwind.

I'm sure I saw you, I was running the Blue car with Beige ragtop. Only ragtop vet running.

180.3 is carring the mail !!! The best is saw was 178.5 mph, but making 16 runs kept busy. I still think the vert held it's own admirably, naturally aspirated !

Custom 4 point roll bar. Ragtop held up like a champ. Seemed like I was driving a hardtop.

Hey Mark, it was great to meet you and hope to see you in March. I'm already planning some small changes to get to that elusive 180 mph mark !

Good luck getting you car straightened out.

Do you have pics of your 4 point Roll Bar system? Breathless Performance offers a bolt in 4 Point system. Is your roll bar similar to that offered by BPP? Your Rag Top holding up to the pressures offered by your speed with cross wind is remarkable. You may have a record for your configuration!

The roll bar was custom made. I bought a BPP roll bar, they advertise it as losing approximately 1" of seat travel, well I lost about 4". Being 6'1"
that was unacceptable, so I had a custom bar made, it was very expensive, but I lost no seat travel and very custom so I'm happy with it.
As far as a record, I have no idea. I just want to have fun and go fast. I wanted to run with the top down to see if the car would be faster but they wouldn't let me.

I know of a vendor who can custom make a roll bar system for me but I would loose some seat travel (just like BPP's) which I'm not crazy about. Can you post pictures of your roll bar installation or E-Mail some pics. I'm very interested in how your system looks. I purchased a hard top (Smooth Line) for my 06 vert which allows me to run in the 12's without a roll bar (local track (1/4 mile). However, I want to eventually go with at least a 4 point for safety.

My roll bar was fabricated by LMR in Houston. It looks like the BPP product but fit perfectly. They said they were about to pull their hair out building it, LOL. Here are some pictures.

I'm considering the Smooth line top myself. I've never seen it. How does it anchor in place? (need pictures!) Do you think it anchors good enough for 180 - 190 mph?

Thanks for the pics. The Smooth Line Hard Top anchors to the two latch points in front (above each visor) just as the soft top is anchored and two latch points in the rear. The Smooth Line web site offers installation instructions, on line, which you will find very helpfull in answering questions concerning just how it is secured. I believe the Smooth Line will be as secure if not more secure than the Soft Top at speed. However, I haven't had an opportunity to run the top at speed just yet. Snow on the ground at my place and the vette is now in hibernation for the winter. I am currently out of town visiting family. I will post pictures of my Smooth Line next week upon my return home. The Smooth Line Hard Top really looks nice. I am told by our local track officials (Bandimere Speedway) that with the Hard Top I will be allowed to run 11.5 in the 1/4 mile. Our DA is generally between 7,500 and 9,500 feet so it takes a great deal of HP to go that fast. I will be adding the E-Force this winter and may add a 4 point system for the added security/safety. If you decide to go with the Smooth Line I can offer you some helpfull tips that may save you some heart ache and money. I will post pictures of the Hard Top on November 2nd.

Cam specs are "unspecified" custom grind, but with 3.90 gears, and 487 rwhp, his flywheel horsepower is about 585 bhp. Nice. Cam is probably in the high 230's or even low 240's.
