Default All 2008+ C6's are TR6060: different output shaft?

I see the TR6060 is available with Z51 gearing on 2008+ models. I assume the non-Z06's have the smaller spline output shafts and dont have the capability of running the Z06 diff.

Is this changed for the grand sport M6's? I was told the M6 grand sports have Z51 (MZ6) gearing and the Z06 diff. Is this true?

If so that transmission has steeper gearing, bigger spline output shaft, and the stronger Z06 diff w 9" ring gear.

Can anyone verify this?

A lot of disagreement about that. Most say no but Rodney at RPM disputes it and says yes, they're the same. See his post #18 in this discussion:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...-z06-diff.html

And gmpartshouse site shows a big price difference between between the ring and pinion for 6.2 and 7.0 cars here:

http://www.gmpartshouseusa.com/partl...layCatalogid=0

As well as big price difference between the 6.2 and 7.0 diff housing here:

http://www.gmpartshouseusa.com/partl...layCatalogid=0

Obviously I don't know but they look different based on this info.

Grand Sports are z51's and have a 2.97 first gear ratio and a 30 spline output shaft. The differential has the exact same outside apperance as a C6 Z06 but does carry a different part #. I have not had a GS manual transmission differential apart to see the internal differences of the Z06 differential. I do know they are all 3.42 ratio and the same physical size gear as the Z06.

Screw doing 60mph in first, I wish the mz6 gearing was an option on the Z06

I have 15 brand new 2.97 TR6060's with both 27 and 30 spline output shafts, still in the shipping crates in case anyone is interested.

So is it only the GS 2.97 TR6060 that has the 30 spline shaft? I have an '08 Z51 with a 2.97 TR6060. I'm guessing I have the 27 spline.

By the way, thanks for the door panels last year.

Correct, only the Grand Sports have the 30 spline mainshaft and the larger differential.
Glad you liked the door panels, they were probably the original ones from my yellow Z06.

I have an 08z that needs gs/z51 gearing by rule. What part numbers are those transmissions for a direct bolt in? My z trans is fine. Do you have a t6060 mz6 for sale or exchange?
