Default VMax Throttle Body vs. Sprint Throttle Booster

Hello all,

I am looking for some advice. I have a bone stock 2008 Z51 coupe (has dual mode exhaust & 6 speed also) and am looking for a bit better throttle response. I do not want to tune the car because of warranty concerns.

I have read many, many threads about the VMax throttle body and the throttle booster. The throttle body is roughly 1/2 the cost of the booster, but I have heard many positive comments about the difference it made in the way the car drives.

I am not really interested in dyno results, but the difference in the throttle response.

I do not mean to start a war, but I would really be intereted in hearing about the difference the throttle body makes.

Any help is welcome!

Thanks.

In my opinion, the Sprint Booster will do more for throttle response and the 'feel' of more speed....but I personally would choose the actual power gains of a ported throttle body (and that's any properly ported throttle body, not just the Vmax) over the illusion of more power EVERY time.

If you buy the Sprint Booster it comes with a30 day money back guarantee and if you don't like it you can send it back.

Ported throttle bodies tend to improve throttle response, increase hp usually in the 5-12 rwhp range and I've even had improved driveability. IMHO, these benefits far out weigh the "feeling" of improved throttle response.

I just installed vmax tb and love it. I have airraid and removed shroud and power and throttle response is craZy. Also engine sounds crazy, air sucking is so noticable. And car exhaust became louder too
I also haev diablo tune , makes big difference

I agree with most everyone else on getting the Vmax TB. It definitely gave me a SOTP improvement in throttle response and was a very simple install.

Don't make the same mistake I made--make sure you order the LS2 TB, not the LS3 TB, since the 08 still uses the LS2 TB.

How can you compare the two?

A ported throttle body actually does something different than what you car is capable of in stock form.

Do you need a tune with a ported TB?

I was considering something for my truck since the throttle delay and auto trans are awful. I don't feel like killing the warranty on the truck (It'll be the first vehicle I haven't) and since they don't yet make a SprintBooster for my vehicle, I was considering a ported TB. I just don't want to have to tune it.

Is anything special done to your throttle bodies to make them so much more expensive than other hand ported TBs?

That's why I stock and sell a lot of LS3 units. Everyone seems to love them.

I have both the vmax and the cow booster. Throttle response is intense.
