Default Question about the MAF Position

Although it doesn't seem that it would make any kind of difference at all, would rotating the MAF slightly either way make any kind of performance difference? Possibly gas mileage, etc.? Seems that I read it somewhere here on one of the posts.

Sounds like a hoax to me. Not really sure how keeping it at the same part of the intake tract but turning it a few degrees would alter how it reads in any manner.

My gas mileage had been off from my usual (with the same driving habits) and this was why I was inquiring. I've since cleaned the MAF and things have gotton better. But I did read on one of the threads here weeks ago about rotating the MAF to improve the flow, etc. I've taken mine off a number of times while working on things and there's nothing there that would dictate a degree change by rotating it a little. Again, wanting to see if this was an area more knew about but obviously not nor should it be. Thanks for the input nonetheless.

Right. CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner is the best. Just don't touch the wires inside it. Not hard at all.

In "theory" it should improve air flow if rotated 90* to be inline with the throttle blade. I did rotate mine to that position, no problems , but it is hard to determine the benefit, if any. This is similar to indexing spark plugs , some do it , for whatever slight gain may be obtained.

That may have been what I read somewhere here. If I were to do it, I probably wouldn't notice any difference.
