The cam bolts are 8mm thread and the correct torque if you are using foot pounds is 27 to 28. 18 ftlbs is for the timing cover, oil pan, rear cover etc. And do clean out the threads with contact cleaner so they are oil free, otherwise not a loctite in the world will cure and stick properly. I have done so many cam jobs in these engines I can't begin to say how many, and not one bolt related failure.

I've got about 2000 miles on the same cam in a LS2 and haven't run into problems. I used an ARP cam bolt kit with loctite.

Me too, although with a different cam. A had my stock engine destroyed by factory cam bolts walking out. ARP and loctite for me!

Default I had it happen to me also

I had the timing gear come off on my stock engine at 25K and did tons of damage. Needless to say on the rebuild I used ARP bolts and Loctite on EVERYTHING !!!

What's up with the cam bolts comming out? My 05 just turned 50000 miles on it and my LS2 was destroyed. Chevorlet claims that there is no prolblem. Hard to belive when it's going to cost 10 grand to fix!
