Default Which timing chain is best to use? LS9 cam & Patriot springs

I'm very exhaust by now lol.

Looked and read so much and still can't figure out which timing chain set to go with.

I have a 2007 C6, I'm getting the LS9 cam so I'm converting to a 3 bolt 4X cam sensor design.

I'm reading double rollers tend to break if ur not careful matching up the teeth alignment (aparently can be off not sure) so I'm fine with single.

I'm leaning towards this one: Cloyes 9-3672TX3Z or 9-3672TX3

However, i'm not sure which set ppl here use most and have had luck with.

Some even say best to just upgrade the chain to the IWIS C5R chain. There is the IWIS chain lingenfelter sells. (honestly looks stock to me in every way)

Seems like it would cost about the same going single/double roller as it is to upgrade to the IWIS c5R chain plus 3 bolt sprocket.

I have googled and searched this thread but can't find any results and what people prefer.

Thank you in advance.

I'm thinking going with Patriot xtreme valve springs for added confidence of double spring, or ls9 valve springs. It will be used with ls9 cam and 1.7 rockers.

Also have LS3 heads going on there.

I bought the C5R timing chain. In doing my research I found that Corvette Racing has never broken one of these. I figured that if they haven't broken one, there's little chance I will...

i run a 236-246 cam with a 6.13 lift (pardon the placement of the decimal) about 10k miles with no problems other than twisting the propeller shaft inside the torque tube.

Anyone break one of these: Cloyes 9-3172AZ

http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...gory_Code=C215

Reaosn being, I'm sure there is HP gain of some sort going with a roller chain.

I'm starting to lean towards the C5R by Katech / IWWS which is the same thing.

But there have been several ppl that said that most likely its a stock chain but just inspected throughout to make sure there are no defects. Which seems true seems it sounds like the only ppl breaking ls2/ls3 chains are those who buy new ones, and perhaps new ones may someitmes have defects whereas the ones on our cars are QC'd like these c5rs.

I remember reading somewhere that they are NOT just a stock chain. Give Katech a call.

The cloyes also uses the c5r chain, gonna give them a call in the morning. aparently its c5r chain and their setup has no slack, just need to know if the dampner is still used.

mourat,
Put one of those (Cloyes 9-3172AZ) on my LS2 when I did heads and cam, fanatastic setup, excellent quality and tight chain. They are a little pricey, but compared to the cost of a blown engine, well worth it.

Thank you! Did the stock chain dampened fit or did you use the cloyes or no dampener at all?
