Default Key FOB Problem?

Neither key fob will operate door locks or ignition?

Can't open hatch with fob in my pocket.

Get the "no fob's detected" message?

Changed both batteries with no luck.

Can a fob lose its programming?

Car will go into accessory mode or start with fob in glovebox.

No codes present on the computer.

Please help!

P.S. never used the fobs for anything other than ignition before.
This is an 08.

Thanks!

Both fobs work in the glovebox. That tells you the car is properly programmed for the fobs.

Neither fob works outside the glovebox, and both have new batteries, which pretty much guarantees that your problem isn't the radio transceivers in the fobs.

So the fobs are good.

That leaves either the radio transceiver in the car (the RDCLR or antenna) OR the RF environment you're in.

To rule out the latter, remove any electronic gizmos you might have on your person or in the car (cell phone, garage door opener, etc.), stick the fob in the glovebox, start the car and drive a few blocks away.

Take the fob out of the glovebox. Does it work over there?

Another possibility: you installed both fob batteries upside down.
