Preferred brake rotors for z51
I'll need to replace my rotors on the next pad change. What is the preferred rotor for a z51 without spending big bucks?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I suppose everyone has their own preference but I just bought DBA's. 4000s for the rear and 2 piece 5000s for the front. Great prices and service from KNS. For less than 100 bucks each I think the 4000 is great value.

For the street DBA 4000 (sloetted only) is a good buy for the $$.
If you are planning on tracking the car I'd spend a few more bucks and step up to the DBA 5000 two piece rotors.

I totally agree. I am street only but went with 2 piece fronts mostly because I thought it was a super deal. Under 400 for the 2. I received them recently and they look great.

I'll be going DBAs.
I'm going 4000s but will track the car 2-3 times a year. I'm not out breaking records and don't anticipate needing 5000s for my use.
I've tracked stock Z51 rotors without them cracking and feel the 4000's will hold up to more abuse.
I'll be running DBA 4000's, Hawk HP+ pads and steel brake lines as a replacement to my current Z51 brake setup.
I'll be putting the same thing on my XLR-V with the only difference being HPS pads instead of HP+ (it also uses the corvette Z51 brakes).

Dba 4000 series is a great rotor for the money.

KNS is the cheapest and dba makes nice and cheap rotors - even the 2 piece fronts are very cheap (299 for a set of drilled and i believe 399 for the slotted) compared to the other options.

My stock Z51 rotors only lasted 10-12 track sessions (25 min each) before they cracked at the drilled holes. I have since put on DBA 4000's at all four corners due to their quality and price. These are slotted and heat treated for durability. If you're not spending any time on the road course, the stock rotors will work well.

Do you have a website link for these? My 06 with Z51 option is about due for an upgrade.

been perfectly happy with stock Z51 rotors, which lasted over 127,000 miles and still had more to go, but decided to change them out since they had some depth on the groove and planning to do more autocrosses this year.
used mainly for dd, canyon drives, and some autocrosses.
got new stock Z51 rotors and pads from partstaxi on their specials, which is always good.
good to have new rotors/pads for the new year
rotors had a grey coat over it, which had me ? before installing. the grey comes off once the pads start wearing over on the first test drive. good thing is, the grey coat on the rest of the rotor remains on and doesn't seem to turn into the rustiness as the originals. i assume the newer stock rotors are improved over the originals that came on the car back in 2004 for the 05 model year.
