I just got an updated quote for a Cat'd x-pipe and they're asking just over $2500 for Kooks with install. I think that is a little high. Anyone know of a good spot to pick up a set of 1 7/8s in either AR, OBX, or LG? I also live in Jacksonville, FL so if anyone knows a good place for install let me know.

I can help you with the headers (LG). I'm not familiar with shops down there though.

I did them in my drive way on JACK STANDS in about 4 hours the first time I installed them. I can do it in about 2 1/2 hours now!

The C6 is as easy as it gets! I installed XS power headers and they worked out fantastic.

Nice pics.

If you are looking for every last hp and ft lb, it pays to do some research on what header to buy. The big three here are:

American Racing
Kooks
LG

Gnerally, for most people, all three make very good power gains. Prices can vary, so you can buy on price, packaging, or country of orgin (if that interests you).

Yes, those three make very good power gains, but so do OBX, Texas Speed, B&B, Stainless Works, and every other longtube header.

There will only be small differences.

I recommend buying on price, but if the name-brand means a lot to you then you can factor that into the equation as well.

Boy those cheap Chinese headers sure look a lot better than that rusty OEM stuff that came out.

Just got through an install of American Racing Headers. Great fit, quality manufacturing with excellent material, and they sound great with my Corsas.

I have Stainless Works Headers also on my 02 ZO6. With the heads, cam and other mods, and they easily support 450 RWHP:

The OBX headers will put you where you need to be in power and ET, and not break the bank.

I'm amazed how many times this question comes up on the tech/performance section of CF every single day.

If you care about name brand, buy a name brand.
If you care about performance gains, buy a set that will perform at the level you expect. (pro tip, they all perform about the same)

ARH, OBX, TSP, LG, SW, Kooks, etc--they all do the same thing and perform on the same level with each other.

I would also add that if you want them to stay looking good (ie, not rust in the future), buy ones that are made with 304 stainless. I took the cheap way out when I bought headers for my Firehawk. I bought Jet-Hot coated (inside AND out) steel Hooker's......now, 10 years later, they are rusting There will come a time when I will need to replace them, I'm sure. If I would have just went with stainless from the start I would have been better off in the end.

This time around I am doing it right and buying stainless ones.

Default Cheap headers -are they okay

I am looking for headers for my car. I know kooks, AR and LG should be fine bit I have heard deals on SLP and OBX. Are these okay. Fit, finish and performance. I am all for quality but if I can save $800, that works for me.

Your thoughts.

Thanks. JT

I went with the catted OBX. fit, finish quality and all stainless as good as any out there. difference in price paid for my ported Fast 102. so for the same amount of money as other headers alone I ended up making an additional 65 rwhp with the ported Fast 102 and catted OBX on the dyno. works for me as I did like making twice the hp.

I've got a set of very low mile, C6, LG Pro's 1 3/4 w/ catted mid-pipe for a great deal if interested and can cover shipping. Just PM me.. I would say they have less than 5k miles on them.
