Anyone do the 1.8 Rocker Arms on a basically stock LS3? Stock 09', Vararam, 1 7/8" AR Headers with High Flow Cats, NPP, 6 Speed, COW Tune. Any benefits to doing this as opposed to a full Cam swap? Just pondering doing full Roller Rockers and wondering about any benefits doing 1.8's over 1.7's.
Thanks for any input.
I installed the scorpion 1.8's on my 05' A4 LS2 and I dyno'd 398/401. (or very close to that, + - 1 or 2. I don't have the dyno sheet with me.) With the 1.8's you will need to change out the rods as well.

I don't think you will have to change the push rods but the valve springs will need to be changed because of the increased lift which will cause coil bind on the springs. The stock lift on the LS3 cam with the stock 1.7 rockers is .551 Intake/.522 Exhaust the 1.8 rockers will increase the lift to .583 Intake/.552 Exhuast which will put you right at or over the lift limit on the Intake valve spring.
Installed Cranes 1.8 Quick Lift Roller Rockers with dual springs, vinton seals with new push rods. I installed this set up on my 06 LS2 two years ago (April of 2010). I cannot quantify any performance improvement offered by this change but the dual springs and roller rockers are an improvement over stock. My compression readings per cylinder went from 140lbs/cylinder to 150lbs/cylinder at 9000 feet. I purchased as a kit through Vinci Power Products (www.vincihiperformance.com). You may want to give Vinci a call with any questions you have concerning LS3 application.
Thanks for the reply's.
Not sure if the 3's respond the same as the 2's.
Also a .030 increase in lift will max out the springs?
If it is .030 and a little more duration, this should yield some improvement (but is it worth it).
I did see some talk about using a longer pushrod, at least with 1.85's.
Thanks again
