If you just need to access the oil pump, you can leave the pan intact. Pull the front cover and the oil pump will be right behind it.

sorry, I would need to remove it to upgrade to the melling oil pump for a cam kit upgrade.

The steps would be the same. No need to remove the oil pan. Just remove the front cover and you'll have access to remove the oil pump. Just be careful when you remove the 10mm oil pump pickup tube bolt as dropping it in the oil pan makes for a tedious retrieval job.
