Default Transmission cooler fitting issue.

About finished up with trans cooler install on my 2008 A6 car and having a pain in the *** issue with one of the fittings.

Found this member post this info on here a few times on the list of fittings for the install.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1577751628-post9.html

I have everything installed and mounted and the one issue i have having is with the 16x1.5 adapter fittings sealing with this dorman fittings

Everything else is leak free and fits great but when mating these two together no matter what they do it's leak. I'm not sure if it's supposed to have a o-ring in the russell fitting, because mine does not have one.
Ill feeling like if it had a o-ring when you tighten them down it would help seal it up. I'm calling summit tomorrow where i got the fittings and trying to find out if I'm missing a piece or what.

Any help would be nice or someone else who has used these might know.

It never leaked on me. I applied some teflon tape to the Dorman 800-605 and tightened it down good. Make sure you're getting the correct Dorman fitting as some have different mating surfaces and if it's different - it won't seat inside the Russell fitting like it should and it will leak. Could it have been packaged wrong (800-606)?

After trying to get fittings to match up to everything, I went to a scrapyard and got a short piece of the tubing that snaps into the radiator. I put a bulge in the end I cut off and slipped my hose to the cooler on, then double clamped it.

Yea see what i wonder is if the russell was missing was oring or something. I have all the correct stuff i would hope unless something wasn't package correctly. I used teflon tape and that leaked.I'm going to call summit and see what they say.

Yea i ended up taking the fittings off and sliding the hose over the factory bulge in the line and clamping it and having no issues now.

This is the fitting i got
http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-8572-800-605.aspx

I called summit and they said the russell and dorman fitting are not meant to mate properly.

Did you dorman fitting look like that?

I also asked if the russell fitting was supposed to have a o-ring and they said "no the male end of the fitting you are threading into the female end of the russell should be oringed"

I don't recall how exactly it looked. Maybe the fitting I bought was packaged wrong. All I know is that I have zero leaks but it does make sense that there should be an o'ring to seal the mating surface of both fittings.

I know this is an old thread but I think 640610 might mate up with the 800-605. I am about the do the same thing. Can anyone confirm this?
