Default How Much of a Gain ?

I'm running 11.6x now in the 1/4 mile and want to be able to run 11.50 in ANY weather...(I want to run the 11.50 Index Class) I have a 2800 FTI Cartek Tune, Kooks Headers, Ported stock throttle body, & am running Drag radials..

Switching to skinnies tires is not an option as I have a 100 mile drive EACH way to & from the track....

I'm retired and trying to keep the cost down... Does anyone think by going to 1.8 RR alone would get me a tenth (.10) down to 11.50 ??

My 60' now is 1.62 - 1.68 I can go to a 3600 converter, & I think that will also do it BUT I would have to use MT or BFG Drag Radials.. I ran the above times with Nittos, I already bought a set of MT.. so I'm guessing I WILL hook with a 3800 converter...I RATHER go to 1.8 RR but don't know if that alone will get me a full .10 ??

Probably.

Since this is about the 6th thread you've started asking this same question it must be on your bucket list. So I say, go for it.

Now that you're going to do it for sure this time; I've heard good things about the Crane quick lift rockers, that the Crane 1.8s actually put down more power than the SLP 1.85s

Assuming you already have a CAI (Vararam or equiv)

Otherwise, just simply prop the shroud open to pick up an easy .15.

The FAST is a nice mod for the LS2 - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...st-intake.html

And I've been driving on skinnies for years now 80 miles each way to the track with no troubles. And mine are temp tires...lots of people do it.

Don't let the naysayers talk you off the ledge again. If so you just be back looking over it in a couple months. Jump man, jump!

I have an idea.

Option A. Send me the money for them. I will employ my elves to install them for you tonight while you sleep. Go racing and enjoy.

Or

Option B. Spend your money at a shop for new rockers and new spings/seals/retainers/locks.

Either way, you'll have the same ET but I prefer option A.

Jerking your chain JP of course but those 1.8 rockers were such a "gen 1" mod.

is the fast 92 better than the fast 102 for a stock cubed ls2? probably get better velocity with a fast 92? I am running a ported fast 102 currently and was just curious....

Fast 92 does not fit our cars. You have to mod it. Stay with what you have. I think Leon switched from 92 to 102 and all was the same. Pretty sure it was Leon.

If you do not have the Fast intake that looks like the way to go from reading a couple of threads here. Should be easy to install.

I think the skinnies would be the easiest and most cost effective thing to try first and not weather related. If the skinnies are light enough it should do it for you. When driving to and from the track just don't follow to close and if it rains slow down even more when making turns. If you don't like them, then just take them off and sell them.

Next would be the converter, I have read that the Yank 38/4000 SS kicks a$$ on the track but don't know how it would be on the street.

My converter is stock so I would do a converter first.

PS: MT in the rain not good.

GS Man my new tread pattern M/T drag radials are actually good in the rain until they get bald. I usually replace them at the wear bars since I drive to and from. The new tread pattern is better than the original in the rain.

I think jpee meant to type that he has a ported LS2 intake manifold on the car, not throttle body (although his throttle body might also have been ported as well?).

A ported FAST 92 will definitely still help him of course but the gains won't be 'quite' as strong as they would be over a bone stock/unported intake manifold.

And I agree, I wouldn't get the rockers either. If they were only $300.00 installed/total for that 5-8rwhp gain then yes, I'd probably recommend them. But at what they will ultimately cost after retuning, oil change and everything I just don't think they're worth it.

John, is that a Z51? You don't have your profile filled out, so I didn't want to guess.
If it is, you'll need to swap to the lighter base rotors and then the GTO spares will work. Throw them in the hatch along with a jack to change at the track. There's not enough tread for constant 100 miles trips.

Pull the passenger seat and the front sway bar too. That'll drop off about 130#, which should get the .15 you need.

Thanks Tom... I think removing weight is the best and "least expensive way to go.. & I can ALWAYS put the Z51 back on if I want to, or if In ever sell the car I will have the parts for the new owner...

I have a stock LS2 intake manifold that has been VERY WELL ported by Cartek!

So I'm going to go with removing weight, and if I need MORE... I may have to go into my savings for a cam...

I think this is a great move. Skinnies and seat out is an easy .15 even in the summer...count on it.
