Katech LS3 head/cam package picks up 100hp - drives beautifully
We just wrapped up this LS3 head/cam package on a 2012 Grand Sport. The car drives beautifully and is near stock. It's not aggressive at all. This car is registered outside of the USA so we were able to do headers. We use Pfadt Tri-Y headers with cats, ceramic coated the headers and x-pipe and added Koolmat tunnel heat shield. It has stock mufflers with a mild to wild switch. The car also features a Halltech MF103 air intake system. Heads are CNC ported originals with PSI springs and titanium retainers.

What camshaft would you recommend for my 08 ZO6 which currently has a Vararam CAI only. I would like to stay as close to stock driveability as possible. I'm considering Pfadt headers, cam and ported heads only. I've read of good things about the Torquer 110 but wonder if the 113 lsa would give better manners down low. What are the basic power and driving characteristics of these two cams?

Can this camshaft work with a stock stall, in an A6 vette? What's the idle RPM set at in that video? Looks like somewhere around 850?

~800. It could be lowered a little. We were just balancing the lope and drivability. It's probably too much for the stock stall, even at a lower speed.

This combination puts the LS3 above the stock LS7 in both horsepower and torque, for how much? $4775.00?

Within a couple of weeks, my car will have that same intake and those headers on it and I'm seriously considering whether to do this cam as well, so I'm wondering how much of the gains we are seeing here do you think can be attributed to the cam? I'm not so sure that with that sized cam ported heads would make much of a difference?? In the GMHT test that cam made 540hp and 496 ft. lbs. @ the flywheel on a stock-headed LS3, so I'm guessing that the heads are probably only worth 10-20hp on this setup? Have you done similar setups without the ported heads? If so, what kind of RWHP gains can I expect from just the cam, with those headers and that intake? Thanks.

What was the reason to ceramic coat the headers & X-pipe? I assume for reducing heat and for the look. Doesn't stainless steel turn blue if not coated. Would you advise a heat wrap for the headers?
