Default TFS 220 heads make 499.7 rwhp

I recently finished up adding a set of TFS 220 as cast heads, along with some other goodies, to my car and thought I would share my results. The heads came from Brian Tooley and I couldn't be happier with them. The car drives like stock and makes great power. My car already had the cam in it, so I'll list my mods/results before and after installing the heads. This is on a stock bottom end LS2. All of the tuning has been done by Matt at 21st Century Muscle Car.

Previous Mods:
-Complete Z06 exhaust (manifolds to mufflers)
-Advanced Induction 230/238 cam
-Comp Cams 5/16" pushrods (7.425")
-Stock rocker arms
-Lingenfelter CAI
-Stock LS2 intake (lightly ported by myself)
-Stock throttle body
-Stock injectors
-Powerbond 25% underdrive balancer

427.5 rwhp / 386.7 rwtq

New Mods:
-Trick Flow 220 As Cast heads
--lightly ported by BTR
--milled to 61.5cc
--PM valve guides
--BTR valve springs
-GM LS2 head gaskets
-Kooks 1 7/8" headers with cats
-Z06 mufflers
-Advanced Induction 230/238 cam
-Manton 11/32" pushrods (7.500")
-Stock rocker arms w/ trunion upgrade
-LS7 lifters
-Lingenfelter CAI
-Fast 102 intake (port matched by myself)
-Stock throttle body
-LS7 injectors
-Powerbond 25% underdrive balancer

499.7 rwhp / 441.9 rwtq

I can't thank Brian Tooley and 21st CMC enough. The car is a lot of fun to drive. Hmmmm...I wonder what kind of numbers it would make with a cam optimized for these heads? It never ends.

Congrats on the new power. Those are awesome numbers.

I think the TFS 220 in the right hands is one of the most potent cylinder heads on the market. Last year we did a set of Advanced Induction CNC'd 220's with a relatively small 230/236 camshaft and made 492/448 through GTO 4.11 gears. I'm very confident the car would've made 505-510rwhp through a stock gear set.

You made the right choice sir. Things come together nicely when a well thought out combo is put together.

great results! I have been speaking with brian about a similar set up on my ls2. 220 heads (he will port),fast102 (ported and port matched by him) and a custom cam designed for my mods/goals. i would really like to see over 500whp,but a linear torque curve is the focus....so we will see! Any issues with surging/stalling?

No issues with surging or stalling. Runs nice and smooth on the highway at 1500 rpm.

Nice numbers, assume they are SAE correct? I don't think that is a bad cam for those heads just not max effort, but curious why it was chosen with the stock heads and LS7 manifolds originally?

Yes, the numbers are SAE. I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to cam selection so I rely a lot on what someone else recommends. At the time AI was one of the only places I trusted so I just went with what they recommended. I'd like to know what kind of gains could be had with a cam that is more tailored to my combination without getting too large. I like the driveability of the car.

You're leaving a little power on the table up top, but the minimal gains from a larger cam probably wouldn't be worth the trade off in driveability as it sounds like it suits you.

Does anybody think I would gain anything by having the stock LS2 throttle body ported?

I would have your fast intake ported, makes a good differance in power under the curve.
