Hyd lifters. What's the latest/greatest
I've had my fingers off the pulse of LSx aftermarket motor parts for about a year. My 454 LSx blocked motor with .660 lift hyd cam profile killed yet another lifter, collapsed, rapping loudly. The current set of lifters i installed 2 years ago are the GM 'Cadillac' hy-perf lifters that were supposed to be the best for higher lift profile hyd cams. What's the verdict on the LSA/LS9 ZL1/ZR1 lifters? or aftermarket lifters? Thanks

I have read a few times about those Cadillac lifters failing, but have no personal experience with them. I am running Morel 5206 link bar lifters with no issues to date.

If your looking for a style lifter that utilizes the stock lifter tray's then I would recommend the BTR SLR Hydraulic Roller Lifter (Brian Tooley Racing). We have been running these lifters in some pretty extreme applications and have been very pleased with them.

I agree. I got my lifters from Brian and his stuff is top notch. If I hadn't wanted to go to link bar style, I would have gone with his SLR lifters.

Waiting on the supporting scientific data.
The cheap link bar morels are made as joint venture between Eaton and Morel with parts sourcing from Mexico and assembly in the states. Got that by Straub a Morel vendor a while back.
The LS7 lifter design is pretty damn good as they hold up fairly well considering what cams we throw at them.
Katech utilizes the caddy lifter all the time. They have reported zero failures from these lifters used in their builds.

I got my Morels from Brian Tooley. They are great quality and performing flawlessly. I would speak to him to help you make a choice.
Here is all the info you could need on Morel.

Morel short travel lifters are pretty nice
Not sure if they make them for the lsx Straub could tell you (they make different grades of perf. lifters). lash at .015 .you wont float them. Personally at that point just run a solid.
