Default Tr-6060 z-51?

Hey all! I am wondering if anyone knows why the TR-6060 in the 2008 Z-51 cars are rated at 428 ft-lbs and the standard/zo6 TR6060's are rated at 500 ft-lbs? The LS3 stock would be on the edge in a Z-51 and the LS7 in Z06 trim would be too. A few mods in my 08 Z-51 puts down 411hp/411tq, which at the crank would be well over the 428 ft-lb rating. How does this make any sense? Did GM build the trannies to hold only stock power levels reliably? Does anyone know why the rating is less in the z-51 cars? Thanks!

27 spline output shaft in the base and Z51, the Z06, GS and ZR1 have the 30 spline. Many cars have doubled that advertised power rating.

Yup, I have seen that before. It still doesn't make sense the base/zo6 is rated higher. I believe only the Z06's have the 30 spline output shaft, so something else must be different in the Z-51 tranny? Is it just the taller gearing cant handle the torque as well? Hoping an expert chimes in!

Base and Z06 have same gear ratios, Z51 has shorter gears & ZR1 has tallest so best guess is that it's based off of that. What are you trying to do with the car? Stock ZR1 transmissions see over 1000rwhp, so I wouldn't worry if you're going to make more than the advertised figures they post.

howdy neighbor
I have about 614 at crank 570rwt have seen no problems. I don"t get on it that often. But when I do have had no issues. sent fluids to blackstone, some metal in fluids but it was bought new. and said it was from build most likely well within limits

Not looking to upgrade much, my questioning is purely based on wondering why the z51 tranny would be rated less. good to know people have a lot more power without issue though!

Lots of good info here. Only thing that makes sense based on what's been presented here is that if the base and Z51/GS have the same 27 spline shaft but different Tq ratings, it has to be a function of the lower ratio (higher numerically) 1-2-3 gear sets. Ratio in 4th (1.00) is the same across all models.
