Default c6 ls2 power coupler

hey guys, whats up? Has anyone had any dyno results or hell even any experience with a "Power coupler". I know the factory coupler looks very dumb and restrictive, so my question is has any noticed any difference with this coupler? Any gains? i know it would marginal if any. Thanks in advance.

I really don't see any power being made in a coupler change. Just my .02 cents.

I am not sure what you are referring to when you say "power coupler". Please explain.

im refering to this...

http://www.corvetteguys.com/c6ls2-co...upler-red.html

ON the ls2 it has the ocodrian looking couple at the maf to the throttle body. Looks ugly and not smooth flowing. The make a straight silicone coupler for that, that doesnt look like **** and i was seeing if anyone had any experience with one. It honestly only looks beneficial.

I don't think a statistically significant gain or loss could even be measured for that. But you asked for those with experience with this, and I don't have that.

Let's say it gives you 4 HP. That would be completely imperceptible.

I don't even think it would be 4hp and whatever gain or loss would be well within the margin of error from a dyno.

But you know you want one. Psychologically you look at that and think, "That has to be some type of restriction." I changed mine out for the same reason. However, $50 seems high. I would look elsewhere online. I'm sure you can find it cheaper, or at the very least a longer tube for the same price. Just don't expect any major power gains.

My 2 cents: Power gain = 0. Cosmetic gain =

First considering the step on the entrance to the TB horn, then twists and turns that the air has to do in the intake manifold with all its production cast burs and exposed edges, the mis-match of the intact ports to the head ports that causes even more air turbulence, and the fact that the MAF is before this coupler anyways, it's all a cosmetic thing back at the start point of the coupling of how much more that air flow will be disturbed via the factory coupling or the after marker coupling at the pistons.

I could see if you are porting/smoothing everything out from the heads back to clean up/smooth air flow where maybe the smoother coupling would make sense as the last step, but with everything stock on the intake, the after marker coupling would just be money spent of something that your not going to get HP rewards for.

I have that one you showed in the picture. I got it for $40 with a code a few months ago. As far as performance IDK, but putting that on alone will do basically nothing except look different than stock. Adding that to a CAI will show a little gain all together. Adding that to a CAI and fast intake ported and ported throttle body, you'll see more gains. Basically what i'm saying is it won't do much. but if you're going to be spending bucks all around it, it's worth changing it also cause the stock accordion is garbage....

Also, if you know the diameters, you can get that same piece from other hose sellers for about $10-$20 online. I think it's a 4"-3" reducer, but not positive. Just measure the stock one. The only difference will be you have to cut a hole where the stock one has it and there's one small notch you cut out (i think it's on the side that goes into the throttle body.)
