Default Dfw alignment - where to go

Looking to a Great, experienced place to align my vette.

I have a 2010 Grand Sport with alignment issues. I have taken it to several places, including the dealer. No one seems to be able to align it correctly. Car drifts to the left, harder to steer to the right. Also, when I hit the brakes the steering wheel turns left. According to the dealer, it's within specs.

Did you get the alignment print out ? Post what they measured. Also hitting the brake and the steering wheel turning left may be other problems. How are the tires wearing ? How many miles and what is the tire tread readings ?

Here is the alignment printout. Now that I look at it, it says not Z06 or ZR1. Doesn't the GS use the same specs? My tires are new, less than 500 miles. Tread is 9/32.

Not sure what machine they use. Mine 2010 GS is listed as 2010-2012 FE3 Suspension, but I dont think that matters much.

The range listed is the same as my dealer provided.

My alignment
Front camber -.6 both wheels
Rear camber -.6 both wheels

caster 7.2 and 7.5

Front toe 0.05 0.06
Rear toe 0.00 0.02

Your numbers look correct and should not have the symptons you are describing if the alignment is the issue.

There may be a problem in the steering / brakes or a problem with one of the new tires. Not sure if you can rotate left to right, depends on the tires. Some are directional and designed to rotate in one direction. Possible brake pad drag on the left side. Before the new tires where the symptoms similar ?

I have swapped the front tires from left to right. It did not make any better. I also replaced the front rotors.

What else has been done to the front steering / suspension / brakes. How does the front left wheel turn vs the right wheel off the ground.
Can you feel any difference in drag ?
Has the brake system been flushed ?
New brake pads ? Were they seated properly ?

While driving, the wheel freely turns left, harder to turn right. This problem began following a failed attempt to get my car aligned. This is why I went to Classic Chevrolet (at the request of Chevy Customer Service). Pads have not been replaced, only rotors, tires and we swapped my original wheels with another set of OEM GS wheels.

Who did you see at Classic? What you have is not normal. Could be caused by brakes or component. If still under warranty I would take back and insist they make it right. Donna is my service writer. AJ

I was dealing with the service manager Joe. He sent me an email this morning saying he spoke to GM and there is nothing they can do. The caster is obviously out of wack and causing the issue. I called LG Motorsports early this morning. They took my number and said they would call back shortly. I never got a return call. I ended up making an appointment at Fifth Gear Automotive.

If your readings are correct ? your caster is not the problem. What you need is a shop with the following.

http://www.hunter.com/inspection/ins...e/features.cfm

This will show if the brakes are in balance. If they are not working in balance it will make your car pull.

Appears the issue is with the caster on the left front wheel. It will only adjust to a max of 5.9*. It's supposed to be 7.4*. They suggested installing a Pfadt Camber Kit. Problem is that Pfadt went out of business last week. Luckily, I was able to locate a kit and will have it installed this Thursday.

So it seems that the other alignment racks are out of spec based on the read out you posted. That sucks when shops dont check there equipment and you pay for there mistakes. Seems odd that a new car has this problem. I would have then adjust the caster so that both sides are equal before replacing / adding kits to make sure the problem goes away. It wont be correct but the car will drive straight once they are equal. If you have the same problem then what next ??

I have a friend of mine in Garland that does alignments. Muffler King is the name of the place. While not a specific "go fast" kind of place, I can assure you that a lot of that stuff goes on in the back. Kevin is the guy that does them and he actually listens to what you say and what you want.

I found the problem. The factory alignment adjusters were defective and would adjust on their own following each alignment. I had the Pfadt kit installed today. It replaces the factory adjusters with fixed bolts and shims.

Glad to hear you got it fixed Shawn, Texas Track Works is another great place in the metroplex to have an alignment done for future reference.
