I receive the same warning, also heavier steering at times. Intermittently, so it's pretty hard to find what the cause could be.
I'm all

Check your brake fluid and your gas cap. Both of those can cause SEL.

The vette has electrically assisted power steering. I have noticed that when i get the Service Vehicle soon light that the Electric Assist is NON-OP and the steering is quite a bit heavier.

I have pulled the battery and everything goes back to normal - for a while - but then comes back (and goes) seemingly at will.
I chased the connectors and everything is hooked up.

I found this thread searching -trying to see if others were having this issue.

apparently so.

Does anyone have anything to add? Anyone gotten to the bottom of this one?

I have the same issue…Service Vehicle Soon and heavy steering. No codes. I’ve disconnected the battery a couple of times, but it persists. Have read no coherent possibilities yet. Has to be relatively simple, like EBCM or a sensor. Definitely don’t want to be fleeced by the Stealership!

Need scanned by the type of scanner a shop would have. They should be able to pick up the code causing the error message.

I just got this problem and this is the only thread I see on it. It has been a few years since the last post - has anybody figured this one out?

It started showing up right after I had the harmonic balancer and water pump replaced, so I don't know if they could have done something replacing them to make it happen.

Just a thought.
Reset the oil life monitor.

No codes, odd.
May need a Tech II for proper code investigation.

Good luck.

I don't know, but I will ask. Thanks. Do you know if it will hurt to drive the car if they didn't?

I will try that. Seems strange though since that has its own warning. Thanks

Car is currently in the shop for warranty service; symptoms had been the service vehicle soon text on the dash and a noticeably heavy steering feeling. As a band-aid I topped off the power steering fluid which returned the car to normal operation. The next morning the shop verified a slow leak at the steering gear location which is now awaiting a part for replacement.

I had the same problem.
I have cleaned and refreshed the electrical connector plug on the servo.
No "Service Vehicle Soon" since 2 years. Could be the solution.

I mean the power steering unit. There is only one electrical connection on the driver's side.
