If I have something that plugs into a car's 12v outlet that I want to hard wire in like a dash camera how can I go about this on a c6? What/where would I tap into? THanks
I tapped the switched power on the radio harness. I was replacing radio anyway so was easy, convenient, and guess-free. I've also read that you can tap in at the fuse box under the passenger floor board; but I can't offer any specifics there. Many radar detector installs use a mirror tap to grab power at the rearview mirror. What are you trying to power?
You can purchase a "Add a Fuse" from most auto parts store and get a seperate circuit from the fuse panel at the floorboard on the passenger side, be sure to check the voltage of what you are powering up though to make sure it operates from a 12 volt power source.

That is his I connected my shift light. Very easy to do.
It is a dash camera I am trying to hardwire in. I have a radar detector hardwired into the mirror power, could I plug the camera in the same one or will this be too much for the mirror?
Tapping into radio power would be easy. I'm not sure what else is on the mirror circuit or how much amperage your camera pulls. It could work but if he camera is high amperage it might not be the best circuit to tap into.

Mirror wires are in the 20's gauge. Could be a problem.
