Default GS vs ZR1 sway bars

After adding a supercharger and fatter tires to my 2013 Grand Sport, I figured a stiffer set of sway bars was in order. Bought a set of ZR1 sways from a forum vendor and had my son do the install.

I measured the sways that he took off over the weekend. 33mm front and 31mm rear. Same as stock ZR1. Rear sway has a blue tag with "FE5" written on it. Looks to me like the sways he put on were exactly the same as the original sways. My GS has the mag ride. Always heard the GS's had the same sways as a Z06. Mine didn't.

Did someone *** up on the assembly line? Or, are the ZR1 sways part of the mag ride package?

There are some ZR1 parts that are part of the GS/mag ride package. I'm not surprised by this finding.

I have the same setup, and have also found that the rear axles are ZR1 on our GS/mag ride setups. Check yours, you should have a very large driver's side axle, the same PN that is on the ZR1.

Yep, driver's side axle is definitely bigger. I wonder if the springs may be different too. I've read too many times where suspension experts say not to mix springs and sways from different GM setups.

The only thing I wish I could add from a ZR1 is the PTM and the tranny ratios (much better for blown cars).

Adding a supercharger puts more weight on the front end suspension, so the thinking would be that stiffer sway bars would help for handling in curves.

My plans are to just adjust the ride height after adding the S/C setup of my choice, get another alignment, and leave the other suspension parts alone.

But this is because I have the factory magnetic ride suspension already, and the other ZR1 components (installed already from the factory) mentioned above, and I only do a track day every year or so.

that weight is going to negligible, just corner balance around it. Then see how the car handles and tune based on how it rotates, pushes, or leans.

then I hope you have an automotive engineering degree and a big shop, because based on that you'll have to reengineer the car,

Are you sure you read my post correctly? Every supercharger install guide that I have read says that you need to adjust the front suspension height after a supercharger install, to account for the extra 100 - 200 lbs of extra weight, depending on the type and brand of supercharger. Basically bringing the car back to a "level" state".

That should not require a big shop or engineering degree - read the whole thread before you reply again, it should make sense

Took me all of about 30 minutes to do mine (shop left it lowered after install). I did have to use almost the full adjustment to get it back to stock ride height.

While I did not weigh my F1 Procharger prior to installation, "100 to 200 pounds" sounds a little high.

Yeah, that probably is a little high. The point is, that unless you like a lot more scraping and really like your headlights pointed at the ground, you need to raise the front end after adding weight there. My front end dropped between 5/8 and 3/4's of an inch after adding the supercharger. You'll need a stiffer sway bar too if you expect the same handling.
