Default Need a little help with a my front bumper

This is my 2011 Base C6. While hand washing it last weekend I noticed that the front bumper is raised or poped up about 1/2 inch by the left front headlight and fender. I can hold it down and with some very slight rearward pressure on front bumper using a micro fiber cloth, it will stay in place. As soon as I let up on the rearward pressure on the bumper, it pops back up. It acts like there is a tab that should hold it down and in place. My feeling is that there must be some nuts that I can loosen and and re-tighten while the bumper is held snugly in place. I have not bumped into anything to cause this nor has anyone backed into the car. Any help from you guys would be great.

There is a clip that is worn, and should be replaced. I'll post a pic in a few minutes to this post.

Here are the pics. There is a clip and a locator piece that get worn, and when so, the portion of the top fender will pop up, and not stay down.
These are easily bought at a dealer.
Not as bad as yours, but you get the idea.

The clip and locator

Where the clip and locator fit into.

The part #'s

These can be replaced easily, without needing to remove the fender or bumper. Just pop that fender portion up enough to remove the old clips/locator, and replace with new ones.

They should have them in stock, or can order you some. The Part #'s are the same for all years and models.
You can also order them from Cultrag Performance or GMPartsDirect
Part #- 11561329 - Genuine GM (ROCKER MOLDING RETAINER) approx. $4.74 each
Part #-11609871 - Genuine GM (BUMPER COVER RETAINER) approx. $0.97 each

Any instruction on how to "pop the front fender up" would be much appreciated (I have this on my '05 as well)

I made a PDF using pics I had accumulated to hopefully show you how to get to the clip/locator.
Hope this helps

Your post has been very helpful. Just one more question. I don't want to force the bumper up to get the new parts in, are there screws on either the bumper or fender side that need to be removed that will make it easier to do the work? Thanks again for your help. I thought for sure I was in for a trip to the body shop.

Thank you.
As per the above PDF, you can remove the 4 bolts on the top front bumper cover, then get it off the retainers, and pull it up off the front frame as far as you can go. That is why the tape is put on the bumper top, just in case it hits the open hood. That should get you lots more room to work.
Hope that helps.

That's a good question...body flex, the plastic looses it's rigidity, who knows, but it's a PIA when the edge starts to flip up and not stay down anymore.

There's another thread on this same issue. I think you can find it by searching "front bumper wings". the thread has some good illustrations and instructions. I got my clips from Cultrag.
