Default All DIC & HVAC Buttons Dark

Hopefully this is some setting I'm missing and not something I jacked up while under the dash removing my meth controller but the latter is more likely. The dash gauges are lit and respond to the dimmer. HUD is functional and responds to brightness control. The DIC and HUD buttons on either side of the cluster are all dark as are the climate control buttons and seat heater buttons. They're not dim, they're totally dark. Can't see them at all at night. They all work, just not backlit. The climate control LCD display works. Door buttons and window switches are lit. Any fiddling with the dimmer or headlight controls (which are set to auto) has no effect. There is no fuse for this that I can find. It's like the bus that powers all those backlights is not connected. Going to be fun tracing down which wire that is.

Looking through my 2005 Corvette Service Manuals. Now on section 8-279, Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console. Let you know. Any info requests from it?

As you say, could not find an appropriate fuse. Did find several pages showing what may be helpful views of suspect connectors. Pages 8-943 and 8-287. If you don't have the manual, email me your email address and I will send photos.

Hi Jim, thanks for looking. I have the GM Si (service manual on DVD) but it's different than the book and a bit hard to navigate. I did find these but would appreciate seeing whatever you've found. I'll send my email in PM.

What he said.

Sounds like the lights in the panel are out or there could possibly be a loose cable.

This is a long shot.. but I thought I had some weird things happen when I unplugged the electrical connector on the trunk/fuel door thing. It seems like other lights didn't work without that one plugged in. It's been over a year so I could be totally wrong

Are you sure that one is plugged back in?

It's funny you mention that. I had the lower dash panel off to remove the Alky Control kit and when I put it back together I initially forgot to connect both of those. But they're both plugged in and function now. Although I'll give them a look over as that panel is going to come back off for troubleshooting.

Here are the fuses that are associated with the DIC/Instrument cluster.

Thanks! The only fuse I saw on the diagram was the parking lights. Then I remembered seeing some thread when I was researching yesterday that wasn't the exact same symptoms but similar. The fuse is under the hood. Sure enough it was blown and when replaced everything works again!!!

It blew because the last time I had the fender off (installing the UPP turbo kit) I forgot to put the side marker back in the socket so it was dragging and popped/cracked the bulb and I probably went through a puddle to short it out.

Thanks for everyone's help! Much appreciated.

Which fuse did you have to replace? #8 Park lamp in the Engine fuse box?
