Default Fuel basket filter

Has anyone found a source for a replacement fuel filter?

IIRC, the filter is buried in the tank and (maybe) attached to the pump.

If you're going to the trouble/expense to take everything apart, probably a good idea to replace everything connected to the filter.

Hoping the experts will be along soon...

There isn't what I'd really call a filter.. more of a filter sock on the fuel basket, but that's it. Leave it alone or replace the whole fuel pump basket assembly

If something has happened to the sock pickup on the pump, more than likely you have gotten some things running through the pump that didn't do it any favors. As much fun as it is to pull the tank off, you would be better off installing a new basket assembly.

They should not have to be replaced unless something goes wrong and clogs it.

I'm installing a 340l pump and new sock. I wanted to replace the filter also, but don't want to buy an entire basket for a $3 filter.

There is a filter located under the top of the module. The plastic housing that holds it in place can be carefully pried apart. Unfortunately there is no serviceable replacement. I'm pointing to it in the picture.

I took my module apart and converted it to use in a surge tank.

Interesting, good to know. Mine ended up ripped apart getting it out of the tank.. the plastic had swelled slightly and wouldn't fit through the opening on the tank anymore, so it had to get "disassembled" first.

The plastic swelled? You don't think it was going to rupture, do you? I don't think I've read of that one happening before.

nah it was just from being soaked in gasoline for so long I think. Or maybe the opening got smaller? I dunno.. but the assembly was def. bigger than the opening ont he fuel tank. Not sure why they wouldn't allow a little more clearance on something like that. I ended up breaking the lower basket part off and then getting it through in pieces, but even that took a lot of effort to get it to go through the opening, then I had to clean all the little pieces out of the bottom of the tank. Fun stuff.
