My corvette has a 799 and 243 heads. Why??
Just noticed this while looking around under the hood. It has a 243 head on the drivers side and a 799 on the passenger side. Car has 20k on it and I'm the 2nd owner. I read they are pretty much the same head but this just seems really strange. None of the service records ever said anything about having a head replaced. Is this anything to worry about? I have a year left on warranty so should I bring this up to the dealer? this is an 07 ls2 engine.

Think they started making the 799 head in 2007. Don't worry. They are the same head.

I've read that they used both heads on the same car when the car was built.
Note: A Mexican LS2 cylinder head, casting number 799, is also available, but features a rougher finish than the U.S. casting.
