Default Need experienced drag racers

Looking for the experienced drag racers who know how to setup a vette, is there anything I can do to get this darn Z06 to get some traction? Talking 1/4 mile drags, I know my stock tires just spin 1st, 2nd and into 3rd. Drag radial tires will help but how about suspension changes? or any other changes that could help? Stock wheels are 20" in rear and I really don't want to change brake setup to fit smaller wheels, but any thoughts are GREATLY APPRECIATED. Thank you!

Drag radials are the key. If you have a new z06 you'll need 18", the guys in the c7Z section will advise on specifics.

My stock suspension gets 1.4 60 foots with no problem. No need to change it IMHO.

This resource is invaluable.

the best thing you can do is get 15 -16 rims next would be 17" you can try QA1double adjustable shocks, those will help also remove front swaybar, the driver mod will be the best practice peddling, I was able to achieve a 1.34 60 ft with that technique, if you keep the 20" get DRs air them down to what works best hot and leave them there adjust to every 10degree air temp change to stay the same pressure

Your profile says 2013 427 Vert, yet you say Z06. Either way, 17" wheels will fit. Go with Hoosiers in the 275/40/17 size and one of the following 17 x 9.5 wheels. C5 Z06 fronts, C4 A-molds, C4 sawblades, C4 salad spinners, preferably in that order.
Initially run 18-20 psi until you find what works best. The highest pressure and still hook is the object here.
Drive through the water box and do a 4-5 second burnout in 2nd gear before staging.
Be aware that if your track plays anywhere close to the rulebook, you'll get booted out after the first pass. Unless you screw up royally, I'd expect you to go quicker than 13.49, which is the limit for verts without rollbars.
Have fun.

Someone told me I can't put 17 or 18" wheels on my car unless I change the brake calipers? They won't fit, any truth to that?

What year car do you have?

If it's a c6 then 17" rims and tires WILL fit. Hoxxoh gave good recommendations.

If your car is a wide body like mine (Grand Sport), I like 315-35-17 Mickey Thompsons. They are a little heavier than Hoosiers, but they last longer and they are not bad in the rain so you can drive to/from the track on them. With Hoosiers you cannot street drive them, you'll swap ends in a puddle.

That's true for front wheels, but 17's fit fine on the back.

JoeG is right about driving to and from the track, especially on wet roads. I always change at the track, so I forget that part sometimes. We rarely get rain in AZ, but avoiding the extra wear and longer heat cycles is why I don't street drive my DR's.

With a vert, you probably don't have room to carry extra wheels to change trackside, so the MT's might be the better bet.

^^^ Tom, you're correct once again. Only way I've toted my tires was either my trailer, or I could put one in the trunk, leave it open (bungee to hold it down) and one where my passenger seat normally is. Not optimal.

On the front of a Grand Sport, you CAN use the 17" GTO spares as skinnies, but, you need to get 4.5" wheel adaptors (available on eBay and others). They work fine, though they do look a little silly. I understand folks have used Cadillac 18" spares for skinnies but the bolt pattern is slightly off - I'd personally either use the adaptor or get proper wheels to fit rather than carve out a lug centric wheel to fit.
