Local chevy dealer parts guy stated ALL MOUDULES HAVE TO BE AT ROLL CALL when programming a new FOB or NO TANGO.

While that may be true, I would not depend on something that any dealer says about fob programming...so many have proved that they are in the dark when it comes to the fob system. Easy to give the programming a try.

A little gallery of work in progress.. The 5th caliper AS PICTURED WAS JUST HANGING ON IT'S HOSE! It was R rear and replaced BUT the pads ( in my mind ) are another proof of milage... The PILE of USELESS rubber that came with the car.. and the harness which is next. but I HURT ALL OVER...

Didn't read the whole thread, but www.car-part.com is a great source for parts. Put in the year/make/model and the part you need and it brings up all the junk yards with the part and price.

Sat Progress
AND NOW...WIN CITY ( The montage )
Put shrink on EVERY WIRE and did an overall tape job.
Tried the program sequence ...BAM it took !
30 ( ish ) min later... radio worked, window motor worked ( P/S ) .. D/S made some internal BAD noises, AC controller worked, got a full light up on dash.. and the DIC was VERY unhappy. We listened to some XM , since someone at AVIS forgot to cancel the XM subscription ! David got the bell housing on..
We stripped off the White nose and found some badness... front impact metal tube crushed on P/S ( pix to follow ).Precats & wipers arrived.. Wipers went on and wipers AND squirters work... BUT I do not have the correct nuts to hold the arms on, it seems the nuts also have a retainer for the cover caps.
We didn't bleed the brakes yet.. because we have killed off MOST of the parts I have in da house, so MR bleed tomorrow....

The XM will still be active because it wasn't powered on to receive the kill signal. If they did cancel it, it will eventually stop working, they only broadcast that info every so often.

Bell N SMOOSH. FOB FINAL thought's
Bell housing was a bit of a trick to get to 2 of the bolts....
UND the bumper smoosh.
So The ON STAR has NOTHING to do with FOB programming. and you MUST have the ECU ( PCM ) in communication with the BCM or NO DEALIO !The BCM will NOT enter the ACC/off/learn state.
A little video from my FB page scroll down a bit...

The onstar module is also the vehicle communication module. The BCM, Suspension, ABS, ECM, and TCM all need the Onstar module to communicate on the GMLAN data bus. The GMLAN is a tan and tan/black twisted wire pair running thru the harness.

In a vert.. the onstar module is in the trunk ( pass side ) in a cubby hole... mines missing...
The onstar may MONITOR what the car is doing, but not needed to program the FOB...
The start of FOB sequence is via the trunk key...
This is the procedure I used :Long version.

This AM I had no fobs that would with my car... but by 11 I did , and there is no onstar module in my car...

The RCDLR is located here: http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/?s=upper+trim+pad

The XM module is located in the rear above the drivers side wheel well on the coupe and inside the waterfall on a convertible. The Onstar module (VCIM) is located behind the passenger side rear storage compartment in a 2005-2008 coupe and convertible and under the passenger side dash on a 2009 and 2010. http://www.smokinvette.com/corvettef...ve-onstar.html

Glad you gave the programming a shot...as usual the dealer was misinformed...(big surprise)..LOL. I don't think I have ever heard of someone here on the forum needing to program fobs in this situation so we had no experience wth it. Good job!

YES cclive that was the high point of my day.. So not much REALLY exciting to report, bled the brakes.. that went off without a hitch.. funky fluid & air OUT new fluid IN... went around the car 2X and VERY VERY firm pedal with very little freeplay. AND another BONUS... I was chasing a turn signal issue ( which was a ME being a derp ) but pulled and inspected EVERY FUSE.... So post brake bleed I tried the Drivers side window and WOOOO HOOOO there is actually glass in the door ( unlike the other side ) .....
The dash is whining about ALOT of stuff that is in fact OK but there is no wiring getting there so BOO HOO alert.
Things that I need help on:
Proper routing of the ATF lines from bell housing to radiator.. I THINK they were still attached or snagged on the engine pull ( theft ) ... I can't seem to fina a logical path.. AND how do those lines attach to the radiator ?? I do not see a backing nut.. is it a spring loaded thang??
Parts I have snagged since last post..
The upper " bridge " the nose attaches to.
Front inner wheel well skirts ( both sides ) .
P/S fog light
Seats
Radiator
side markers
Horns
1 center cap....

I played with the car last night and the HUD works YEAH !
Things that currently do not work.
( do not know if the car needs to run for this )
The telescope function on the column
The convertible top power retract..
I had some concerns about replacing the engine like the thief's pulled it...
without lifting the whole body .. I ASSUME it's possible to install the engine "Ol Skool style " by just poppin the hood, but I cannot seems to find any you tube videos.. I will continue to search.. but just wanted to check if it is doable... ( maybe not prefered ) ...
The ABS module got some slight contact on the way out...So if anyone has done this before or knows a link.. please share...
