Default LS3 motors Verse new LT1

I'm in the market for a corvette.
I'm looking at used 2008s or New 2016 stingray LT1
Seems to me...simple is good and I'm leaning to LS3 2008
Although there making year end deals on 2016.
I guess what Im asking is bang for the buck...whats a better value?

LT1 has variable cam timing with 460HP, the downside of the coin, direct injection instead.

The LS2 has higher compression 411HP, while the LS-3 has a stronger block instead (ls-3 makes 430hp).

But in regards to handling/braking, the C7 is better than C6.
So although I don't really like the looks of the C7, if it came down to a base model up to say a GS C6, or C7 stingray, would go with the C7 isntead.

If were are talking C6 Z06 (505HP and the handing/braking upgrades it has), or C7 stingray, then it would be the C6 Z06 all the way isntead.

I'd like to get the c6 Zo6 427...test drove one. What a driving experience.
My first Fast car had a L88 427. Like to bring it full circle.

Is the C6 427 edition, basically a GS with an LS7? Meaning a steel frame with a LS7. Besides badging, balsa wood floorboards with carbon fiber, CF hood and a convertable, what other differences are there between the C6 427 edition and a C6 Z06?

Yes. This is mainly because a GS (especially the manuals) are basically steel framed Z06's with LS3 engines and different front feders.

The overall powertrain system in the C7 makes for a substantially better driving experience than any C6. Why? The C6 computers are 2005 technology, even in the 2013 cars (I have a '13). The C7 computers are brand new and much faster. Torque calculations happen much more precisely. Couple that with direct injection and the system has substantially better control over wheel spin, yaw, etc. Traction control works in a useful manner that allows you to continuously push the car while it is engaged - with the C6, when TC kicks in, your fun is over.

The combination of variable valve timing and direct injection also yields substantially better low-end torque than the LS3 does, too. From the dyno runs I've seen locally, a bolt on C6 makes the same as a stock C6Z. So does a stock C7. For the most part, a 2014 is around 8-9 years more advanced than a 2013 simply because of the technology that's implemented into the car.

Aside from performance, the interior is also substantially nicer on the C7, as is the stock sound system. The stock exhaust sounds better. Everything is more refined and has a bespoke look. The HUD is full-color, and coupled with the wealth of information available in the instrument cluster, it leaves the C6 in the dust.

I know all of this from first-hand experience. I bought my car brand new in August of 2013, and my father bought his C7 that same October. We've put 60,000 miles on each. His is bone stock, mine has a cam, bolt-ons, converter, stupid sound system, numerous handling/braking upgrades, etc. and the non-Z51 C7 is still an overall better car unless you just want to haul *** all the time (which is exactly why I built my car the way I did). I regret nothing about buying my car when I did because I got $15k off on a brand new car simply because the C7s were coming the next month. Then again, it costs about the same amount to make a C6 faster than a bolt-on C7 while maintaining reliability (meaning taking care of cooling, braking, handling, etc. and not just raw max-effort power).

If it's a DD/only car/dont plan to modify much, go with the C7 because it will just plain work. If it's a plaything or you want something that's easier to add N/A power to, go with the C6 platform because you don't have to work around the VVT system.

At the end of the day, I think you will be happy with either, but you really need to consider your particular usage scenario and how much you weight warranty, mods, comfort, refinement, etc. I would personally rank the C7 Z51 better or equal in all categories to the C6 Z06 except tire size (which is inconsequential 99.9% of the time, except when you have to pay extra to replace the bigger ones).

Hope this helps!
